Your Best Cruise so far?

I was wondering about the experiences and favorite cruises people have taken. I enjoy traveling however cruises is the most affordable option out there. I have cruised twice before, I have been on the Carnival Fascination and RCCL Sovereign of the Seas (not longer with Royal). I'm also booked for next summer on Liberty of the Seas out of Barcelona! and Im really excited about that. So far between the two cruises I have taken Carnival Fascination was the best, I found Sovereign of the Seas a little bland for my taste. I have also had a day tour on the Disney Dream, which I gotta mention is a beautiful ship however some of the public places are too small for the amount of guests that are on the ship. The Disney Dream (4,000 passengers) pool is almost the same size that the Disney Wonder and Magic (2,400 passengers.)

Cruises are my favorite type of vacation! I've done 2 Royal Caribbean cruises but I don't remember the names of the ships because it was when I was younger. Two years ago I went on two cruises in a summer. Both were Carnival and they were the Destiny and Liberty. Both left out of Florida where I live and they were extremely fun. Then last year I went on a cruise in Hawaii with Norwegian cruise lines but I don't remember the name. It was fun but the ship activities weren't really as fun as Carnival. I think Carnival has the reputation of being the "fun ships" and they definitely live up to that.

Yeah, it's definitely a really pretty ship. It's also sort of patriotic too. Like the one of the dining rooms is called the Lincoln something and it's decorated pretty cool too.

Ah yes the Pride of America I believe is the one you went on. I have always wanted to go on the Carnival Liberty I love that Multicolor Chandelier in the atrium, lol.

I have never been on a cruise but I am thinking of taking my very first one in 2013. I am doing research now. Wow. it is complicated. I did start a discussion recently in mylot but got only one response. I am going to watch your discussion to see what other mylotters have to say. I am a single person who is going so. Do you know which lines do NOT have a very high single supplement? Single supplements are a killer. How did you decide to go on the cruises that you did? How do you begin and do your research?

As of right now the best one that I've heard of for solo travelers is the Norwegian Epic since they have rooms dedicated to solo travelers. I personally first start looking on Expedia and Travelocity then from there I make a list based on price, then destination/ports then I look each individual cruise line website I'm interested in then I look for reviews about the ship and photos. I read reviews by the passengers and look at their photos. I don't just look the cruise line photos and professional reviews because I don't really trust them. The major factors for me are prices, ports and the ship. The older the ship usually the more rocky they are while sailing. I try to avoid any ship build before 1995.

Thanks for your info. I had heard that Norwegian Lines offer rooms for us singles or solo travelers. I have heard that some other lines are now doing the same. I will continue to do my research. You have been very helpful. I am glad that you posted your discussion.

I went on a training vessel up the River Thames to Essex in January. The weather was very cold, we slept on bunks and washing facilities were poor. I had a much better time on a cruise ship between Kent and the Netherlands. It had a swimming pool on board. I so very much enjoyed swimming in that. I shared a cabin with my friend. When we arrived we took a train on to Amsterdam. I would love to cruise in the Caribbean Sea. My ideal route would take in the North Coast of Colombia too and some of Central America. Even better I would like to cruise around the Galapagos Islands. That one though is very much over my budget.

I have been on 3 of RCCL ships. There were Enchantment, Voyager, and Explorer. Out of all them, my favorite was Enchantment. The last two cruises I was not to happy with and I figured I am going to try something new next year, so I booked the Norwegian Epic. From my research I find they have more options when it comes to dining and that's what I am looking forward. Also I did research on their freestyle dining, and have more choices on what and when I can eat really suits my needs. Also I'm bringing my 7 year old son on his first cruise and I really like what I learned about the kids program they have aboard. I have to wait a whole year to experience the fun but looking forward to it.

Cruise - Dreaming of Cruise
I've not tried going on a cruise. But as I heard from friends who experienced cruising I am really persuaded to try cruising one of these days. But I am looking for the best time and of course saving enough money for this. I am planning for a Holy Land Cruise and I think it would be sometime early next year if all things work well.

I cruised the Rhine years ago. We went from Rotterdam to Basal..about 5 days. It's the only cruise I have taken and it was wonderful. Castle country was spell binding…for hours we just stared at the scenery as we passed castle after castle. The food was fabulous. I gained 5 pounds in 5 days and that was not so wonderful. Frankly it makes me nervous to think of being on a ship in the middle of the ocean stuck with a hundreds of people and I can't get off...
