I made merengue

Merengue - It's sweet and made from egg white. It should be crunchy after baking it but mine was not.

Tonight I made some merengue because there were left over egg whites. It's my second time to make this but as always it's not perfect. After I baked it, It was soft and not crunchy. Do you have any secret on how to make it crisps. I only got the recipe online. I really don't have a talent in baking.

Hello there angelbelle578! I like to cook that one too. Are egg whites the only ingredients needed? Can you share it to me please. I don't find some online cooking how-tos and recipes to be easy to follow sometimes. Yesterday, we were just talking about this one. I mean the merengue. That one is a really sweet dessert and snack.

If you have 1 glass of egg whites so it should be twice as much of sugar. First bit white stiff and after that slowly add sugar. Bake in max temperature of 130 degree C not higher for about 45 min to 60 minutes till it will be dry.

You can add a little corn starch to the recipe (about 1 tbsp per 4 egg white). Only make it on a dry day (low humidity) and leave the merengues in a turned off oven to cool off. These three things should help make them crisp.
