Australia

7 years & 9 months after Daniel went missing in Woombye (about a 20 minute drive from where I currently live), he can finally be put to rest. 3 bones that were found near where he was dumped have been confirmed that they belong to Daniel. The whole of Australia has been looking/praying that he would be found dead or alive. You can read the story here: http://au.news.yahoo.com/queensland/a/-/newshome/10129659/bones-identified-as-daniel-morcombes/ I wish his family all the best in this time of "actual mourning".

So sad that this family has to go through something like this. But they can now know and begin the healing. And the not knowing can finally stop. They can begin to let Daniel have the rest he deserves.I hope if they prove the one in custody did this never get out.I just don't understand why people want to hurt kids. There are a lot of sick people out there. If they have anywhere you can send condolences let us know.My heart goes out to his family.

I totally agree with you! I am pretty sure they will be able to prove the person they have arrested to be guilty.

This has been a very sad case for a number of years and one that the Australian public will never forget I think. I have been past the site where he was taken from and seen the things they have there and it is very emotional to see. Another sad aspect of the case is that Daniel had a twin brother so every birthday that that boy has cannot really be celebrated without thinking of his lost brother. I guess this is the reality that we as a nation have been expecting for a long time. I heard Daniels dad on the radio saying that it was expected but still a shock. He said at least they can have some closure now and will finally be able to get on with their lives. The other questions that will no doubt be answered over time are the events that happened after he was taken and that lead to his body being dumped there. How long was he alive for? Was he kept as a prisoner for years or killed immediately? As a parent, I am not sure if I would want to know that?

It would be ard to hear, but I think I would want to know what happened after he was abducted if I was his parent. I have heard that they are going to hold a memorial service that will be broadcast on tv so the whole of Australia can say goodbye to Daniel. I think this is good because the whole of Australia has been looking for him for almost 8 years.

I don't know how much exposure it has had outside QLD, maybe I should ask my brother in law as he moved to Perth from NZ earlier this year...Have you heard the latest? Anna Bligh is going to work with the Morcombes to get a kids safety thing/lesson taught in QLD schools.

Yes it has been a very public thing on Australian news services for the last 8 years so that is a good idea to allow everyone to be able to say goodbye. I wonder if it has gotten the same level of coverage everywhere though, like in Perth for instance. We in Sth East QLD are probably more exposed to it and you guys on the Sunshine Coast especially so.
