A Supposedly Funeral Visit Turned Out to Be A Bonding Moment

High School Batch - While in Jollibee waiting for another classmate who was trying his best to come as soon as possible but was caught up in traffic. :) Not too bad for we had the time to catch up with each and everyone's life's update!

I and my 4th year high school classmates made our best to plan to go visit our another's classmates' mom's funeral last night. He came all the way from Dubai where he works to see his mother for the last time and so we decided on going to pay our respect to the dead and to see and comfort our friend and classmate at the same time. We haven't seen Morlan (whose mom died) for 9 years after graduating from high school. And so it was in a way that we would want to give him the best gift of seeing him by being with him in this sad situation in his life. But because we didn't have his number for he doesn't have Philippine mobile number and just know his house just near the school, we were rest assured that he was just there. But when we arrive to their place, we only met his wife and kid. According to the wife, he was nowhere to be found and his mother's funeral is at Dasmarinas, Cavite which is a ride away. Morlan was fetched by a friend and the wife only heard about the conversation of drinking somewhere and that they were planning to go to Dasma early in the morning. The wife went out but there's no Morlan around at all. We were a bit disappointed for not being able to see him last night and so we just left our number to the wife in case he comes back home early. So we decided to just find ourselves a place to catch on our each and everyone's life update. We ended up being in a bar yet the boys were the only one's drinking because us girls don't drink. Yet the fun was there. We were sad for Morlan. If we had received a text from him, we would be running on to see him and hug him yet we remained waiting with nothing. It was great having the night on ourselves though. :)

I'm sure Morlan was touched to hear that you had called around from his wife later on.

I'm hoping so too. We're praying for him.

First off, I'm sure that Morlan's wife and child let him know that you'd come to call on him. Then as far as being able to spend some time with the people that you went to high school with was surely a great thing. A couple months ago a friend of mine had a get together at her parent's house when she was in town to visit. It was really nice to have the opportunity to catch up with some of the girls that I hadn't seen since we graduated from high school 13 years ago.
