What Was the Most Elaborate Cake You've Ever Seen?

Ranch Wedding Cake - This cake, made entirely of cupcakes, was served at a wedding I went to last year. The couple had met at a ranch.

Thsi cake was served at the wedding of two older folks who met at a ranch. The cake was really a bunch of cupcakes. Some of the decorations, like the farm animals, aren't edible. The cake was a big hit with the wedding guests. I was tasty as well a interesting. What is the most interesting or elaborately decorated cake you've ever seen? Tell us about it or upload a picture if you can to show it to us.

My oldest daughters wedding cake....it was so tasty and very pretty too. I don't have a photo....but the flowers on it were real....and it was raspberry with a lemon cream that was put between the layers!

It sounds yummy. I think real flowers, as long as they aren't poisonous, are much better than frosting flowers. There are many lovely edible flowers.

It's a fabulous cake, and must have been a real talking point. I've seen some spectacular wedding cakes too, but along more traditional lines. My favourite cake was a wedding type cake which I decorated as part of a cake decorating course years ago. It was nothing particularly wonderful in cake decoration terms, but certainly on a par with many you can buy and I was very proud of it. It was simple, with handmade icing flowers. I don't think I've iced another cake since!

Cake decorating is one of those things I just don't do. To me, if the cake is frosted, it's decorated. My mom made an effort to decorate cakes for our special occasions, but I managed to make cake unnecessary for birthdays when I had kids. We had their birthday parties at the beach, and they preferred birthday donuts, so that's what we had. They were easier to keep sand off of than a cake would have been. I admire people who can decorate cakes. I'd rather concentrate on making it tasty. If I need a beautiful cake for a special occasion, I get it from a bakery or see if a friend wants to do it.

My son has a girlfriend who is beginning with cake decorating, but I think she does an excellent job. She has done some very simple cakes but I like some that she has done that look like they are stacked high in all kinds of flowers. There used to be someone who posted here a lot whose daughter does cakes in the UK and I have seen a number of hers. They were as delicate and dainty as fairytales. I did some freelance articles about weddings a few years ago and there are countless websites full of fantastic cakes.

That cake looks really tasty, as well as elegant. You must get very hungry working there.
