Nowadays, cellphone is regarded as one of our basic need? Is it true? if you try to look at it, we have been too dependent on the technology that we rely on it in doing things. We simply have disregard the basic chores that we can do. Right now, if you like to eat you just call the delivery hot-line of a fast-food and in a matter of minutes your hot food is already serve. Just like that, cellphone has been a good companion wherever we go. It helps us communicate and get relevant information from different part of the world. You can call anyone, anytime, anywhere. Just dial the number and the person is in the line already. Share your views about this concept.

Hi JasperTore, Cellphone is just a tool but reason why you need cellphone (information & socializing) .... that basic need nowadays. In the past you can live alone in jungle or cave but now we need to interact with other people.

Yeah, people long time ago can live without it. Just basic tools for hunting and clothing and their fine with it. There are caves to stay with when the weather is not good and there are rivers and streams to wash themselves.

Seem like you missing the big picture here. I'm not saying that cellphone is not important but I only said that cellphone is just a tool. "Need" is something that we want to fulfill and to achieve that we required tools. Tools can be replace with other advance equipment but need can't be replace.

Yes Dear Jasper! I think in the recent times, I think we have got adapted to cell phones without having any problems! This equipment has become now a part and parcel of our life as this has become our main mode of distance conversation! This has made our lives easier! The facility of carrying this small gadget anywhere we go has made this instrument an indispensable part of our lives. the attractive colors, attractive shapes and affordability of these phones have made them further popular amongst the masses! To add to the advantages list,we should really thank the improved technology and the service providers who are providing services at very nominal rates! !!! Now, with so many advantages, today we are having some more added features in the cell phones like SMS facilities, MMS facilities, Internet facilities which makes this equipment more adorable. Just think about the multimedia which today the most of cell phones have and also those phones which have TV receivers! So with so many features and facilities, it is no wonder if cell phones have become our basic need!!!! If used properly, these Cell phones can be a big boon as we can be with touch with all the members of our family when we are unable to attend them personally. Especially in a situation like if we are working and need to attend our children and we are worried about them! The cell phones have reduced our tension to bare minimum! We can have a track of our children who have gone to the school and can be free of the tensions , as we are facing lot of unwanted things/crimes happening against school kids! This is just one example I have quoted! there are many such things which makes the cell phone as our basic need today! Thanks for the discussion, I Liked participating in it! !!!

I do agree with the fact that people became adapted in using it but we should not rely too much on technology. Technology was there to make life better but sometimes technology can bring problems which can make our lives complicated and problematic. Better be simple yet independent on high technologies so that when time comes that we are out of this gadget then we can handle things on our own.

Hello Dear Jasper! I fully agree with you that we should not become dependent on the technology as we may get addicted to it! But then dear friend technology has become the part of evolution and today we are travelling in the space, where as it was a dream to fly in the air some 100+ years back, when Wright brothers were doing their experiments with the Aero Models! Million years back we used to live in Jungles and used to have raw vegetables and meat but today , I think human being is the only animal who cooks or processes the food before having it! Thus evolution is the part of our lives and we need to adapt it! Thanks for conferring my response with a BR! All the best dear friend!!!!

@AKRao24 We really have to adapt about the change that is happening. But we should still know the principle behind the technology so that when it is not available for some reason, we can still do something about it.

Where I live a cell phone is considered a necessity, especially for elderly and handicapped people as well as low income people. The government gives out free cell phones to qualifying people here.

Wow. I want to go there and get free cell phones. Cell phone has become a tool for everyone to use in communicating instantly to love ones even if they are miles and miles away. Just a phone call away or video call away and you will hear and see them live.

There are still people who can live without cellphone and I admire them. Cellphone is a great invention but users should be responsible in using their cellphone cause it can also destroy things.

Yes but today, we need to have cellphone for faster communication. But when the person is in front of us already then we need to talk to them in person and not through the cellphone. It is better to communicate in person because there are other things which we also developed. That is proper posture, hand gestures and other non-verbal communication skills.

Me too. It has been a part of my daily living. But we need to make sure that we don't depend too much in technology. Because too much dependency lead to the essential things in our life being neglected.

Yeah, cellphone take an important role in my life. If I am losing it, or accidentally left it on my home, I think I would got trap in much problem. Can't contact with my friends about serious issues, can lose my jobs But once again, people in the past can live without cellphone, and I believe so do we. So if there are no cellphone in this world now, I think we all could still make a living though

I think you should try not to be too much dependent on your phone. Maximize the use of your brain and body in doing things. Cellphone might be there but what if its not there?

@varier There is something missing when we use cellphone a lot. That is social interaction with the person face to face. There is a lot of difference when doing this in person rather than in cellphone.

Now it isn't really about cellphone, the serious matter is the communication. Brain and body alone cannot make it for far-distance communication If I can have another good way to communicate with others, then I wouldn't need cellphone. Hey anyway, haven't I stated these before?: But once again, people in the past can live without cellphone, and I believe so do we. So if there are no cellphone in this world now, I think we all could still make a living though.

The cellphone is so important for me. When I go out, I must bring a wallet, keys and my cellphone. Besides entertainment usage, it is important that I can contact with others or ask for a help if there is an emergency. If I forget to bring a cellphone with me, I feel like missing many important calls and I will be upset for a whole day. I love China

You got a point about emergency, that is something that technology can give us. But being responsible enough to do things is also good than being too dependent on technology.

Nowadays, cellphone is essential in our day to day living. If you want to communicate with your friends, family and other people then just one press of the button and you can already talk with them anytime and anywhere.

Yes, I agree with you that the cellphone brings to the table a lot of advantages for us humans. However, I do believe it is not a necessary or a basic need to live with. In my line of work before, cellphones are not allowed. Hence, I have lived a life without using cellphones there. As of now, I really don't bother with my cellphone and sometimes I go out without it and nothing much was changed without it. But I do know a lot of people who can't live without their cellphones. Maybe I was just one of those individuals who never learned to be dependent on using the cellphone. Just my thoughts in here.

Good for you that you haven't been dependent on your cellphone. Sometimes too much dependence on the technology makes us fragile and weak in doing things on our own. Better to know the basic of the things so that when technology cannot make it then at least we can do it on our own.

Cell Phone is definitely part of my basic need. I really don't go out one day without taking my cell phone with me and when I forget it, it always seems that something is missing. I have two cell phones and use one as my alarm clock. Now, with the iphones and galaxy, we are going to be even more dependents of our cell phones.

I agree that a cellphone became a necessity. It is a handy way of keeping in touch with our loved ones especially when we are out. I experienced going out and forgetting my phone home. It was not easy and made my husband really worried. I too was worried and had to go home early because I felt uncomfortable and unsafe. I feel that when I had it with me, I am safe and my husband is just a button away if something goes wrong.

I think the likes of you belong to a group which has been dependent on the technology. Just like the people being asked what things they could not live without. I think I can still live without my phone but without anyone to talk to then I think my life is useless by then.

Cell phone is not my basic need. I have a cell phone to get intouch with my family and most needed people like authorities or for calling help in case of emergency. I rarely use cellphone calling for home delivery, or convenient service. I do not have a landline home phone. I have only a cell phone. But there are times when I leave my phone at home and walk go somewhere or I turn my cell phone off.

that is so true, my cellphone is like my friend, my maid and my secretary. It wakes me up by turning on it's alarm,it has secret code where I can store my password and pin, and the notes and the task helps me remind all the things that I need. Plus it helps me contact my loved ones.
