Do You Re-respond to the discussion when your earlier response was REMOVED?

Hi Lotters and friends Sometimes, we make a mistake and violate the rules at MyLot... and that results in the removal of our response to a discussion. Maybe not all but many of us have experienced this. I was wondering - Do you go back to such a discussion and re-respond ensuring that you dont violate any terms of MyLot Again? Hmmm... I think, there are many positives in such a situation - Maybe I was rude and the starter had just read the response... The starter would be hurt and my re-responding in a polite manner will definitely soothe the hurt. Again, while re-responding, I would be clear on not violating the rules which might mean that I re-read the Rules - The Plus point - Re-reading the rules help me understand what MyLot expects from me Better and I stay update with the Rules and guidelines... And hey, did I mention - those who are here for money only (I am sure there is no taker here) I can try to recover the lost cent too Did you ever think on these lines and re-respond? Have a great day and month end Cheers Sids

Hi thesids Yes this has happened to me where my response was deleted for guideline violation. Actually about two times. It was for helping a new member with how myLot works. Although the question was not about how to earn but more so about how much does one earn. I was watching the members continually making mistakes, so I though I could be helpful in giving tips. Apparently either the discussion starter felt it was not relevant and or someone reported them. I was not unhappy about them being removed and hoped the member did get a chance to read the response so that they properly used myLot. I don't enter myLot how to's with the sole intention of earning so it really didn't bother me just a bit surprised. No I never returned to add my response again because really it was helpful information and I really don't feel it was a loss to me, as I really was helping. I would do it again, with the intent for other members to learn and be successful here. But as far as returning back to try and gain the cents, nawwh, see my response would be the same.

Hi GF That must have been quite a sad feeling - when you try to help someone and they take this with the wrong approach. I have felt that many a times in the real world. I know there are many great peole who are here for fun and other things and not to earn any cent or money. I know that you are one of these great members. This is why I keep saying that you are one of the best - in fact among the best 3 of MyLot.

Hello Thesids, I never had a response deleted, unless the whole discussion was deleted. I still fall in such traps and I respond to discussions that later are proved to violate the guidelines. Though I don't remember if I received any notification for deleted discussion this month. Assuming that one of my responses got deleted for violating the rules (which is not 100% impossible), I don't think I would come back to the same discussion. Once I wrote my opinion and it was against the rules, what would be the use to come back? Should I come back with a mild response? No, it is not me. Once I affirmed something, it remains like that. I wouldn't change my opinion for one cent. Would you?

Hi inu Of course not for that cent... I am sure of that. But yes, for the sake of happiness and pleasantness around, in case my response ever got deleted because I was rude, I am sure I would return back, maybe apologize and also re-post with better wording and try to patch up with the starter... because in such situations we never know if that earlier response was read by the starter or not. In case it was then s/he would have been hurt and I am not here to hurt anyone. For other cases where the opinion cannot change, I would be more polite.

If I said something rude to someone, it means he/she really pissed me off. So I wouldn't change my message once I wrote it that rude. Luckily I don't get angry too often, I rather stay away of "hot" subjects than tell my opinion that is totally against the one of the discussion starter.

I can't remember my responses/comments being deleted unless the discussion or original response that I was commenting on got deleted (with the exception of the occasional accidental duplicate response due to connection issues, that is). I have been warned a couple of times by GoAskAlice about "playing nicely with the other children", and I think that my further responses were more appropriate as I neither got any further warnings nor deletions. If my response were to be deleted, then I guess that it would depend upon the reason that it was deleted. I was accused by one member of being rude, and she was very ... let us say "aggressive" and "accusatory" in her remarks. I apologized, even though I did not feel that I had said anything wrong, because she was obviously very upset. She got nasty about my apology as well, and I just left the situation alone. Our responses were not deleted (nor did GAA make an appearance), but if they had been deleted I definitely would not have responded there again.

Hi PA That seems strange and confusing but I am sure that no one reported those interactions. Good for us. From the small set of interactions we have between us, I have found you and your responses quite jovial and I think that would definitely have been a case of misunderstanding or misinterpretetion...

Some members are exploding with no obvious reason. I don't know if it was the same, but I have been attacked for a response by a member who also accused me of being rude, gave me several nice qualifiers, and reported the response : it has not been deleted as I was not rude at all.

Hi Sid, To be very open, if there is some situation, I never go back and try to correct it at point of time. Once it is gone, then it gone for ever and I may interpret the same in a different fashion if the topic is so sensitive. But so far nothing happened as such. Regards Thank-s

Hi Thanks Good to see you back on my discussion buddy. I am quite happy to see you. I had once encountered a situation - where the starter seemed quite rude - you had mentioned her with "dear" and she had a good suggestion but put it quite wrongly. Certain situations do hurt people and we (epecially me) I think are more suceptible. Anyways, lets forget these and move ahead... When a situation like this happens, I am quite sure that I would re-respond changing the tone of my response... But I do believe it is something quite not easy as it would be the same me, and the same discussion... as you say - difficult to change my stand or viewpoint... but I think I can manage to be simpler

Yes, I remember the things that are hurtful to me and also my friends. Good news that now she has a baby. Lets forget that and move ahead...

You too..... remembering!! Yes, I cannot forget it ever. Though it is just a simple comment for her and she must have guided me. But for me it is just as equal to give slap on my cheek. It was really so painful and beyond tolerance. Later on I decided not to respond any of her discussions and still, when she delivered and got a new baby, I greeted her. I think this incident I never forget. Because it is one of my speciality that if I get blamed for such incidents, it would severely hurt any one. However, we who take it seriously can understand the real fact. Forget it, and that is the only way out. Regards, Thank-s

Hello Sid, Hope you are doing good. Like Akp said, I have also never had my response deleted due to guidelines violations. Yes, I did have a few of my discussions deleted which I re-posted after appropriate corrections. In future, unluckily if this happens and my response gets deleted, I will definitely re-post it in order to show and indicate that I understand the guidelines and respect them and here it is a new, improved, updated, and better response for you!

Good morning, sids. Very seldom am I contrite, as my Father taught me very young...the bitter taste of "humble pie" of which I seldom care to indulge in. BUT, if the situation should arise whenst I misinterpreted or responded inappropriately, YES I would make a sincere attempt to "right my wrongs!" I do know how unabashedly defeted I feel when I am trounced upon, sometimes by the author..and OFT times by my own sensitivities...so I appreciate the value of logical/non-confrontational reply! In other words, a great BIG YES to your question!

Hi there my little namesake, I've actually only had one response removed due to a violation and I really was not meaning to be rude or violate. I felt bad but did not return to the discussion. Maybe I should have just to try to make things right. I did make ammends with the person on another topic. We both have a tendency to misunderstand each other. That's a great idea though, sids. I'll keep it in mind if this happens again!

Hi Sidhu. This situation hasn't happened for me so far. That doesn't mean I'm perfect. In some instances, the entire discussion was removed so there's no point of re-responding. And, I'm not vividly active here. So, the chances of deletion of my responses are less. That's it. If it happens, I have no idea. (I just come to Mylot and browse through some of my responded discussions. If I have time, I'd respond to the comments. Sometimes, I leave without responding due to time constraint.) Cheers. - venki

Hi venky Good to see you here buddy. I know that you are quite occupied with offline work and make rare appearances here at MyLot. So the time contraints work for you... I have experienced these time constraints over the last 4 months or so and realised that it is not always possible to even reply to all those you want to so during these times, the chances of re-responding are lesser.

Honestly, I haven't experienced this kind of situation. Usually if my response was deleted, then it is because the discussion it was under, was deleted though :) But let's imagining things.. Yes, I would re-respond it. If I was being rude back then, I would apologize in my "new" response And yeah, like you said before, I will try hard to not violating any guidelines now I think every discussion starter would be happy if there's someone leave a response(it would help to increase their earning, though XD), especially if it is polite and good response. So why should we bothered to make a re-responses? :)

Hi varier Good that things are so far pleasant for you and you never had an opportunity where the need to re-respond arose. Normally when we respond we are always within the pleasant boundaries but there are some odd timings when our response may gettowards the hurting edge... So we all should take care to be providing an open and healthy discussion

You are right! We have to try our best to make a pleasant and polite response. But, if sometimes we failed to do so in a rare occasion, I think all things that we should do is just apologize and promised that we will not repeat it again..

If a discussion of mine was deleted I probably would try to correct the problem and write it again so it would not violate the rules. I have very rarely had any of my discussions deleted. If I saw someone put up a discussion and it got deleted but was reposted and didnt voilate any rules then yes I would go ahead and comment on that discussion as well.

i am very serious about violation. if ever i get notified of my response been deleted, i put it in mind not to respond to the similar discussion again. i try to analyze a discussion if it could be deleted or not. but even though, sometimes, our unconscious minds tell us to response without looking or reading the discussion thoroughly. we will know later when another notification arrives.

But now after a littlethinking, I have found that in case I can repost (I m not sure about the rules of MyLot in this regard), I will try to re-post my comment and try to patch up things between me and the starter... Hi Rosa Thanks for appreciating my views and telling me that you would consider re-responding to any discussion where your response gets deleted. I know that feelings get hurt when someone's response seems hurting and I feel that the responder never knows about this until it gets removed. Definitely the removal hurts but for the starter, in case s/he has read that response, the hurt stays and carries on subsequent discussions... so for the sake of a healthier Mylot and a better relationship among all, I thought of this thing. Unfortunately, many didnt seem to agree... their choice and I respect them. Thanks for the appreciation again
