Doctors' Advice and Prescriptions

Friends, do you always follow what is advised to you by your doctor? Or are you sometimes adamant to do so especially if the medications are of high dosage? My mom is a health freak but she is not always compliant with her doctors. When asked to take 100mg of a drug, she would cut the tablet into 2 and try the first half first if it works; and if is still aint effective, that's the time she takes the second half. She believed that today's medications are a win-some-lose-some. She would always tell us stories when she used to assist in a pharmacy of her uncle doctor who would compute the component of each drug to make it proportionate to a patient. It is as if the medications then were custom-made; unlike now wherein the dosages are either too high or too low. What about you? are you always compliant? Or do you always leave a benefit of a doubt on the medications?

Yes if a doctor prescribes something usually I take as per instructions. Stopping too soon can run the risk of relapsing. Just because I might feel better it does not mean that it is completely gone and or all traces are gone. So I do try to follow all directions as told. I might on occasion forget but as soon as I remember I get back on the medication.

Yes I agree that at times we tend to take too many. But it is important sometimes that when they are necessary to do take them as prescribed. Thankfully I have had to get many prescribed and in fact am going through a great deal of headaches, for which a doctor instead of running tests prescribed more medications. I refuse to take them without knowing why the headaches are continuous.

I hardly take any medications at all. When i'm in pain i don't take any pain medicines. But when i'm sick and the doctor would advice me to take this, i am very compliant. When my son is sick and the doctors would give high dosage of antibiotic i am very compliant. I don't want to risk the health of my son. But your mother may have a point.

yes i am compliant, my wife too. and when our child is not well we always follow doctors order and of course what she jotted down on the prescription. doctors calculate the weight and the age to give the right prescription. so i dont need to get worried on what she give us as medication. my wife too is very serious with the time... some medication doctors put the exact time so my wife is very compliant with this things too. i mean why do you have to go to the doctor if you will not do their advice... plus we have our family physician... i only trust her and the other doctors she recommends. i dont walk into someones clinic without any advice from our family doctor.

Thats funny, but I read you can't o everything that you doctor tell you because I read that some of the meicines that octors put you on triggers something else to go wrong meaning that you could be getting sick from the medicine that the doctor put you on, I was like wow! so in this day in age we have to be careful, because now people are just going to school for the money
