We all enjoy watching movies, especially during our free time. We have many genre of movies available to us. From science fiction and fantasy, to horror films and comedy. I am sure you can name some more in between. But usually, we all have that specific genre of film or movie that usually opens our interest faster than other genre? So mylotters, what type of movie genre interest you the most? Do you enjoy science fiction like "star wars", or horror films like "the grudge", or are you the action type of films like Rambo? Maybe perhaps you are the type that likes a little bit of each genre, as you enjoy watching movies in general. I personally enjoy watching every piece of genre, but I do tend to lean towards action, suspense and also comedy (but also more biased towards romantic comedy). I enjoy those Jason Bourne type of films as well as films like My big fat Greek wedding. Though I could say, I really don't chase after romantic comedy's, but when I start watching, I really do enjoy those type of films most of the time. So mylotters, What type of movie are you?

Movies that aren't too depressing is always good. Maybe a teaser of sadness hear and there, but always look forward towards happy endings. That is a great list of movies for 2011, hopefully before the year ends you can add some more! Cheers!

Oh yeah, thanks for the recommendation my friend. I have watched undisputed 1 and your right it's a bit slow with regards to fight scenes which get me thinking. Since the first one is not so good I thought part 2 will be the same as well. Thanks again my friend.

Ha ha no problem, I never fully watched the first one because I actually started with number 2, But I know it was boxing related. The 2nd and the 3rd are more Mix martial arts related and have different actors, much more adrenaline towards the scences.

I too love action films with lots of fighting. I highly suggest watching "undisputed 2 and undisputed 3". Don't watch undisputed 1, you may feel it is slow compared to the other two. They star Scott Adkins and Michael Jai White, both great actors for fighting films. Also "Blood and Bone" starring Michael Jai white.

Yes, I know Ju-on. I've watched that. I prefer the original rather than the Hollywood remake after all.

Ha ha, you named some excellent characters for action movies. I enjoy both Jet Li and Jason Statham too, Jason is that tough manly character that is always wearing nice clothes, and Jet Li is just great cause he says very little, but does a lot. I enjoy Asian horror films especially as well. Their usually the original before Hollywood creates their own version. If you do a little research on the scariest monsters of all time, most of them are from Asia. Like Ju-on, which is the original grudge film. Thanks for the reply!

I love horror or suspense movies. Be it a low budget one or a blockbuster, I will definitely watch it. I don't know why I'm into those kind of movies, I am not the bravest to be honest. The Exorcist (starring Linda Blair) is the best I've seen so far. Next type of movies I like is fantasy or science fiction. I'm a big fan of Harry Potter, I also enjoy watching LOTR trilogy. I'm not into romance and dramatic movies. Romantic comedy will do but serious romance films don't catch my fancy.

I've seen "The Notebook" as well due to curiosity since most of my friends like it. Surprisingly I've enjoyed watching this movie. I just watch romantic flicks in cable TV or by downloading it from the net. I think watching in movie houses are quite expensive these days and I only watch films with great special effects in cinemas.

I enjoy thriller movies too. But I enjoy the more peekaboo movies where the culprit jumps out of nowhere unexpectedly, only foreshadowed by music or sounds. But I enjoy these types because in a way you'll never know until the end. The movies with ghost or monsters like, have to be very well done to satisfy me, since once you find out the monster it kind of ends the mystery not all but some of the mystery. I dislike serious romance as well, I would only choose the highly recommended once, like the notebook, but the rest is too old fashioned for me. The slow pace of those types of films can take a toll . Thanks for the reply!

I like to watch comedy movies, but not romantic comedy. Just Night at the Museum and Kungfu Panda type comedies. I like the like Clash of titans, 10000 B.C., Forgotten kingdom.. I don't what this genre called. I call it historical fiction. Apart from these I like movies based some specific current issue or some specific disease. Like in "My Name is khan" hero suffers from Asperger's Syndrome. I like action movies but not much.

Ha ha, I like comedies, for romantic comedies its not something I chase after, but for some reason, once I start watching them, I really enjoy them. Like, I cannot complain about them, or argue that I wasted time.

I like those movies too! They're epic! I love comedies but not the romantic ones, they're no fun. I like action, horror and science fiction too! Me and my friends all enjoy kid films and when Toy Story 3 came out. We were a bunch of teenaged girls rushing into the cinema just to get the best seats! Too bad for the little kids. Lol! =)

My type of movies are horror ones. I actually enjoy that feeling of fright and chill that fills me every time I watch a horror movie. However, such a movie must be interesting and show as little blood as possible, because there's a big difference between gore and horror, and they do not necessarily have to go along. A good example of bloodless, but yet amazing horror movies are IT, The exorcist and The Blair witch Project.

Ha ha I can tell you enjoy Horror movies, judging by your display picture, that is the clown from the movie IT which you also mentioned as one of you have seen. I too enjoy horror films, but I have noticed I only enjoy plausible story lines, nothing too fancy or science fiction like that one Jason X film where they are in a spaceship. I want one where I could go, "man that could really happen if I buy a creepy looking house, or that could really happen if I go through an abandoned area". Something along those lines, allows me to be more afraid in my life, that thrill is enjoyable. . Thanks for the reply!

I like cartoon movies, for the roles there are usually acute and funny, and I can see it with children. While to the content, I prefer the detective movies , from them I can learn many news things and find new ways to solve problems. And several time, I find that new stand point to deal with people and find out new methods to protect myself and people around from danger. And some drama of aim high movie are my favorite, too. I like to seems these kind of movies talking about how the normal people fight to the success. I do not like to the some famous man's autobiography movie. For I think the success of famous man are always have special chances while we may not get them in our daily life, but normal people's chance can happen everyday.

Yea, cartoon movies are always great. They always offer great knowledge and morals for children and also adults to learn from. Mystery movies with detectives are also great, keeps you guessing and the adventure of figuring the movie out makes it interactive in a way, keeping the audience entertained. I enjoy biographies once in a while, and sometimes autobiographies. But I have to be totally interested in the topic, or in a way I had questions that the biography is answers. Thanks for the reply!

My all-time favorite is sci-fi/fantasy but rarely the high tech total robo type stuff or alien war things like the game spinoffs. I also enjoy satire and/or comedy types as far back as the old Buster Keaton, W. C. Fields and similar up thru Woody Allen or Mel Brooks. So I suppose I'm a quirky combo of the two..especially when they're running neck and neck..Enjoy!

Ha ha, you remind me very much of my "science fiction" professor for a class I took accidentally. However, if you are similar to him, you may have started with science fiction books, and for some reason my professor is very critical on movies based on books because he claims Hollywood butchers it. I also very much enjoy game spinoffs, or something you can say, "hey that reminds me of that". Ha ha, I wish I experienced those older comedies, sadly I am too young, and my exposure is different, But I am certain if I lived through them, I would love them too. Thanks!

Ha ha, great metaphor using the flower! I enjoy the happy themes of Indian films, my close friend since high school is Indian and he use to use Indian films to relate for comedic purposes such as, " I sing because, we Indians love to sing! haven't you seen our movies!" (when he gets caught daydreaming and humming at the same time).

I like comedy, romance and adventure movies. Action movies with a bit of suspense and science fiction is also good. I'm not into horror movies like the grudge or those Asian horror movies. I'm not a big fan of horror movies at all. I also don't like those gory films where the body parts is being decapitated.

Ha ha, horror films with comedy are great ^^, such as supernatural TV series, which I assume you enjoy as well. It isn't really horror, but at the beginning they tried to make it scary. Suspense is always great on action movies, keeps us audience guessing and interested on the plot. I enjoy watching horror films with groups of people, makes it a little exciting and enjoyable. Hearing people scream and react all at once to one scene is hilarious. Thanks for the reply!

I like to watch romantic comedy, action, and suspense thriller movies. I prefer movies that have lots of twist, something that while your watching the movie your thinking about things that might happen, why it happen, what will happen. I also like movie that tackles the reality of life, the things that really happens but some people seems to ignore. I also like movie sequel and cartoons =)

I enjoy many genres of movies : action, romantic, comedy, horror, science fiction, thriller, horror, and more! But I think genre that I like the best is science fiction. I enjoy movies that related with space, mutant animals, new inventions, and so. While I was wondering: will these stories actually happen in real life?
• Canada
2 Sep 11
Great list, pretty much every genre. It is great to appreciate each genre, your options will never run out. Science fiction helps engage and spark imagination. Perhaps an writer writes down the possibility, and a thinker creates the possibility, so perhaps it may happen in real life! . Hopefully nothing too crazy like Aliens vs Predators though.

I’m one of those who likes all genres and depending what mood I’m in I’ll either watch action, horror or some romantic fluff. But I suppose the movies I get the most out from are bio-pics as I always find it fascinating to learn more about someone, and how they came to be who they were.

Ha ha, I too enjoy biographies once in a while. They are usually interesting, having one or two in the mix of movies you enjoy is always good. The biographies created by Michael Moore are all excellent, I suggest you check them out .

In fact, just like what you said,I love different kinds of movies, not only fantasy and action films, but also comedy and love stories. In my mind, there is alway a movie that impresses me very much.It is "The Devil Wears Prada".I think very people must have seen it.It is surely a wonderfull film, which I have seen it 3 times.I am totally arttarted by its plot, sence, music, splendid clothes, fashion and cute charaters. And the leading actor,Anne Hathaway,is so gramorous, which is one of my favourite stars. I like Romantic comedy best beacuse it makes me happy. It is a good way to relax myself and laugh when you are tired or stressful.Maybe sometimes romantic comedy is thoughtfuless,as far as others'concerned. But who cares? I am very happy. And that is enough.

Ha ha, The devil wears prada was a great movie. It always had a different view every couple minutes that kept you watching. I do enjoy watching romantic comedy, I just cannot complain about them after watching, it is always very satisfying. But I am a guy, so naturally we don't chase after those types of movie, but once we start watching we actually love it.

Ha ha, the shining was a really well done thriller. Speaking of British Comedy, Mr. Bean will always be loved by me. I never thought a man can make people laugh without saying much, a classic way of comedy when there was no audio at the beginning when films started (charlie chaplin).
