How many relatives does Obama have living illegally in the US?

Another relative of President Obama was found living illeglaly in the US after he was arrested for drunk driving. His uncle, Onyango Obama, was arrested for drunk driving and is now being held by immigration authorities for violating a deprtation order dating back to 1992! When he was arrested and asked if he wanted to make a phone call, he said he wanted to call the White House to arrange bail. Here is the local news report on his arrest - http://www.thebostonchannel.com/r/29023855/detail.html What is really raising questions is the fact that he has a valid drivers license and social security number even though he is here illegally and could not legally have been issued either document. This fact has allowed him to hold down a job that he was not entitled to; but, at least he was not receiving public assistance like Obama's aunt, Zeituni Onyango, who had been living in the US illegally since 2000 and was last year granted amnesty. The question now is how many more of Obama's relatives are going to come crawling out of the woodwork; especially, if Obama succeeds in granting mass amnesty to illegal immigrants living in this country?

So did they let him call the White House? Makes me think of other presidents with undesirable relatives. Always trying to pull some strings.

I don't know; but, if he had kept his mouth shut, they probably would have let him go the next day - he had a valid driver's license, social security number, and spoke "perfect English". None of the indicators that would have had them normally check with immigration. Just routine background check to see if he had any outstanding warrants and then out on bail.

Almost every president has had family problems. It is just interesting that this one has so many relatives that are not American Citizens. It kind of makes you want to ask...Why?...LOL My other question would be, why doesn't he do something for them? Any other president would intercede. They would go through legal channels to help them gain their citizenship or at least an extended Visa until things could be settled. Not Hussein O, he basically just acts as if he does not know them. Interesting...

Exactly, every President has at least one "bad" relative that causes problems for them. But, all of Obama's "bad" relatives have ONE thing in common - illegal status - in addition to the two here, there was one who was deported from England a couple of years ago. Also, they were here illegally long before he became President - both he and his wife were lawyers - knowing these people could be politial dynamite, you would think they would have done something long ago to "fix" these potential landmines BEFORE running for President or even for the Senate. And, these are not distant relatives, these are the brothers and sisters of his father. You would think he would know where they are and what is going on; especially, if they are going to be calling the White House to "arrange bail".

I think that it's erroneous to suggest knowledge on the part of the President. His uncle failed to comply with deportation orders, although - by all accounts - he had initially entered the country legally. Another family member who sought asylum - through the correct channels, I assume - was granted her wish because the Judge considered her link to the President to be potentially life threatening. That, to me, is perfectly understandable. Unfortunately, politics is a fickle thing. In any family there are members who do make stupid mistakes; however, if they happen to be related to a politician, we absolutely scrutinise them. I have an uncle in politics and his nephew - my cousin - committed fraud. It would not have been the issue that it had been, had my uncle not been in the position that he was in at the time. And, of course, he had nothing whatsoever to do with the actions of my cousin, but seemed to be judged even more harshly than the perpetrator. As the old saying goes, you can pick your friends...

Family will be the end of us all. If you don't have a few bad apples hiding on your family tree then you probably have a very small tree. I don't want to know how many relatives I have illegally in this country and I'll bet it is pretty low on Obama's list as well. I don't think you want to seriously suggest his whole Presidency has been orchestrated just so he can grant amnesty to his family, and if that's not the case then this is not that much of a story. Blame individuals for their misbehavior not their Presidential relatives.

He currently has 3 known illegal immigrants inhis family - the 2 here and 1 who was deported from England. The 2 here in the US are the brother and sister of his father. I am not talking about extended multigenerational family members - my 5th cousin on my mother's brothers side. Just people that MOST people do know the location and status of. I do know the location and status of my parents bothers and sisters. I also know the location and status of my husband's brothers and his parents brother and sisters. Several came to the US and they came here LEGALLY - others are still in the "old country". And, if you grow up around illegal immigrants and they are your family members, you wil be more tollerant of other illegal immigrants. All you see is your aunt or uncle and they are your FAMILY. You do not see the people that they HURT by being there illegally. You do not see the person who is on a waiting list for social services because there are limited resources and those resources are being used by people who should NOT EVEN BE HERE in the first place. You do not see the person who got turned down for a job that the illegal immigrant was NOT EVEN ELIGIBLE FOR in the first place. You donot see the high school student trying to get into college that gets turned down because several slots are being used by illegal immigrants who cannot LEGALLY GET A JOB when they graduate. It influences YOUR outlook and when you are in a position of authority, that doesn't just affect you; it affects MILLIONS OF PEOPLE.
