The New DC 52

DC Comics has started every issue over at number 1. They state it is to reinvigorate the characters. To achieve this they retconned the past 40 some odd years I guess and made them kinda disappear. Biggest things would be Superman and Lois are not married and the heroes have only been around for 5 years now. Do you think this was a good idea for the DC Comics industry? I have read the first released issue and must say I haven't been so ready for the next issue so eagerly in years. I think it may have been a brilliant move but at the same time they could be losing a loyal fanbase because they destroyed the continuity these fans know and love. Please leave your thoughts on this and maybe we will be getting a huge discussion going on.

this is one of the reason why I always preferred marvel over DC, all that crazy retconning of continuity they have. The mainstream continuity of marvel is not perfect but a least they do damage controls to fix inconsistencies. The only thing I hate in marvel are those movie adaptations ,the ultimate universe, and Marvel zombies. I had been upset with all the emotional roller coaster and mess superman is turning into. Then they make wonder woman wear pants. I'm having lots of issues with of Marvel and DC but at least marvel was as though enjoyable. Batman is the only DC franchise I still follow.

I agree with a lot of what you say. Batman honestly never gets old to me and he is the only one who seems pretty much left the same as he was, DC didn't wanna risk losing fans on the best comic probably ;). Initial reading in this version Supes seems like an angry guy.

What makes Batman successful are his villains ,they were iconic, memorable and they have good backstories.

I can certainly agree I stopped reading DC a long time ago and started reading this now out of curiosity. They definitely did have lack of innovation for a very long time. This is the same thing to me as when Marvel did the Ultimate Universe only DC decided that they would just get rid of the universe they currently have and make the readers not have a choice of versions. While so far I enjoy the writing we will see as it goes on.
