here in my country; the Philippines; all new students are required to take the entrance exams before they are accepted into the university they want to go to. there are no special considerations for those who do not get the required percentage of score because if the student gets admitted even with an inferior grade he wont be able to cope with the other students. so in the end the student is the only one who suffers. those with inferior grades are advised to take vocational courses instead.

in my country the universities conduct CAT(common enterence test) but they still reserve some seats for lower catagories. But instead of this reservation process the govet. should focus on quality educatiom in their earlier age for that group so that every student has the equal chance to get admission.

i wonder who are they reserving the seats for? if they are reserving the seats for a relative or for someone who pays for the seat ...like in an anomalous transaction then that would be very detrimental to the growth to the educational system of any country.

No they are not reserving the seat for their relative or someone who pay them for a seat. Actualy the resertation is for some backward cast peoples and it includes whole the education system.

It is so very much common here in our country. Eventhough, you did not make your very best in the Entrance Exam, still you can be admitted because you have that so called 'backer'. It is so depressing because from the start of your education, until you look for a job, you will be needing that 'backer' in order for you to land a position. So alarming...

It is no wonder for country that allow such a standard to exist for the university or college entrance will always produce mediocre graduate who can't read and write properly and professionally. Most of the coutnry that practice this type of policy will never develop into an advance nation, except continue to remain backward and undevelop forever.
