I had no plans for our holiday yesterday. Usually my son & family have plans w/friends or others & i don't even realize it is a holiday. My son called me yesterday & said they were thinking about bringing their grill over & having a cookout at my house. I loved it. He did burgers & hot dogs on the grill, i made potato salad, baked beans & brownies & we had a good time just being together. My dil seemed so happy to be here & that made me feel great & of course having my grandkids here is always a treat.Did u have any surprises for the holiday?

Hey there! What a great surprise! I'm sure you had a wonderful time! My only surprise was that I had to work! LOL But I needed the hours so I was actually very grateful to go in. Good to talk to you again, Jo!

I am so glad that you all had a wonderful time. It was a lovely thought of your son to think of this. No - of course it wasn't a holiday out here and so I was at work. Many blessings.

It sounds like it was very nice for you. We went to my sister's for a cookout. It was 60 degrees and very windy. It was quite cool. It was nice to see everyone though.

That is nice..I tried to get my sister in law and her family over, but they couldn't afford the gas because they are on one side of a county and we are on the other said of a different county. The surprise I guess I had was all weekend I got my husband to grill out instead of me slaving over a hot stove..

Yeah me too, it is less hot than cooking in a kitchen with no A/C and I love the taste and I wouldn't mind if we grilled out maybe once a week, but no, he only grills out when he feels like it..I would go ahead and grill out myself, but he has to bring home the charcoal, and if he doesn't then there is no grilling..:(

No surprises. Just went for a drive and ended up at Dairy Queen for ice cream. Gotta have an occasional blizzard or I get grumpy. Your cookout sounds like it was very enjoyable. And your daughter in law being in a receptable mood must have been very special. Those relationships can be iffee at best.

We don´t have that holiday in my country, but we are looking forward to our Independence day. I need to have a couple of shots just on those holidays, so we are planning a barbecue with my doctor friends so wew can also have fun. I´ll make a couple of salads and they will bring the rest as they will come will the grown up children. I´ll get to know the latest baby and will see my favorite niece with her big belly..

Thanks, Jo I´m feeling reasonable well, considering, except for lots of fights with the insurance that should pay for a great part of my treatment. I´m glad you had a wonderful day!

Sadly,no! I made a turkey dinner for us, he mowed lawn and I did school work inbetween all the baking. Lots of leftovers that will not last long. I am so happy for you! Something I always dreamed life would be like, but the kids all seem to busy with their own things to include us. Glad you had a great day!

Hi, ANTIQUELADY. That was very lovely for your son to surprise you like he has. I wished that I could have had a surprise like you have. I would have loved to eat some potato salad and grilled burgers and hot dogs! Well, maybe next year, I guess! I am glad that you have had a wonderful time with you family. I am also glad that your Dil was just as happy too! I did not have anything planned yesterday. My family and I did ate a delicious dinner that I prepared on Sunday though. I have enjoyed myself just by being home with my family on Labor Day. It is very nice that you had a sweet day yourself too with your family!

I do not observe the holidays. What i did was go to clean one of the two apt bldgs. that i clean every week. The city buses were on holiday time. I choose the bldg. that required less busses to get to. After cleaning i went to the bus stop and sat for 45 minutes. I saw the bus coming so i stood up to board the bus. And it was like in slow motion drove right past me. I was waving and hollering. You would have thought at least one person on board would have said to the driver, "hey, someone wants on." But no it just kept going slowly past me. I was so angry that i cried. All i could think was "oh great now i have to wait another hour". I call the bus company and complained. When the next bus came i made sure they saw me. I stood out in the road and waved till she waved back. When i got on that one i told the driver what had happen. She said other people told her the same thing. Thats pretty sad when i bus driver doesnt have time to stop and pick people up.

Well, i dont think anything can make me lose my relegion. Not even some that attend the same hall. Ive resently been told i need to look more like everyone else to fit in. Im not changeing my hairstyle, jewerly style or clothing style to suit and human who doesnt think i fit in. Jahovah doesnt judge me by any of that. He reads my heart and thats what counts to me. I dont give a hoot what anyone else thinks.

Hi ya ANTIQUELADY Not this year, not that I can think of anyway haha. It was the last day of the summer break for the kids yesterday but no such luck to have a last day of good fun. I have had workmen in doing some work and the weather here has just been horrible. We didn't even have one cook out or barbeque over the break at all. Even today it is really really windy and raining heavily on and off so I am not expecting any surprised today haha

I am always looking forward to some kind of get together especially when it is a holiday and everyone is having jolly good time relaxing at home. I love barbecues and that is almost certain whenever it is a holiday. It is great to have a thoughtful son who came with his family along to be with you.

i had a lovely long weekend, my husband was away, (but that not why it was lovely) he spent time with our nephew and wife and their 3 dogs in their new caravan. I couldnt go as one of their doggies is a rescue dog and not good with other dogs, and my dear little doggie is the thug from hell and is not good with their dogs. but my husband had a good get together with them and i spent my time in the garden, (inbetween the raindrops hahaha )i kept in contact with the hubby by phone, god bless mobiles ! it was nice to be able to work all day and eat late in the evening once all the essential gardening was done and also watch what i wanted on tv. we both had a nice break and absence does really make the heart grow fonder. We have been married 44 years this year!

We did have a surprise on Labor day. We did not have plans. We were on our way out to go see if a store was open to buy my daughter some cleats because we decided to sign her up for soccer along with her brothers. Before heading out we stopped at FIL's to check up on him.. and found he had fallen down and couldn't get up. He's been back in the hospital ever since.

Glad you had a great holiday. No, I didn't have any surprises. My SIL and daughter went to the inlaws for dinner and I was not invited, so I stayed here and mylotted with you guys. That would have been nice to have a cookout. I believe I will invest in a grill for next year.

That was tacky they didn't invite u knowing u were 'home alone'. I haven't had a grill in a while either & i do miss having one. Seems sort of silly to get one just for me. Thanks for your response.
