can you continue a dream?

yesterday, while i was sleeping and dreaming about a friend who has stolen my money and who i was boxing so hard because of my anger, my boyfriend called me up and asked me about something. after i put down the phone, i hoped that i can continue the dream because i also did not like that friend i was dreaming of and i wished i can repay him for all the bad things that he has done to me. but then i was not able to continue the drea,. did you ever felt this way? were you able to continue a dream when it was interrupted?
