I was just wondering how many mylotians are retired from their respective job and have a lot of spare time. I have seen many people around me, who find it hard to pass their time once they are done with their job. It would be good if the retired mylotians can share how do they live their life after retirement, so that other people an get ideas and live accordingly. Thanks,

I am retired and I find so much to keep me occupied, in fact I don't know how I found time to go to work!! I love writing, reading, knitting, baking bread and cakes, cooking and gardening and of course coming on MyLot and other internet sites.

I became retired a year ago but only because I reached the age to start collecting the pension that I qualified for at the workplace where I was laid off over 20 years ago. So I spent 20 years being unemployed and making my living from my own investing; I never received a penny of unemployment from the government. I actually have had less free time than when I had an official job. Between looking after my investments and spending time on living frugally and trying to get some exercise, I have had little free time. I occasionally come here to Mylot not to make money since there is little to be made here in the time I can spare to spend here but just to interact with people from all over the world. So mylotians learn to invest and to conserve your money and you will have plenty to occupy you in doing that.

Hi arvindneemuch, I am not retired but I am not working either. I have at least 6 more months before I reach retirement age and draw my retirement money. I am jobless because of the economy. I an interested in reading the responses to this discussion. I hope to get some good ideas.

I've heard some people say that retirement kills, not work. But, others say that they wish to be able to retire, rest and relax. Actually, it's a matter of attitude and it varies from person to person. Some wish that there were more than 24 hours in one day. Yes, there are a million and one things to do in one day when one knows what and when one wants to do it. It's really up to you, arvindneemuch. Do whatever makes you happy and enjoy.
