How do you personally cope with depression? I know we all have our own tricks, maybe one of them can help others out. I am manic depressive, and have learned threw therapy and medication how to cope day to day but when a traumatic event happens I find it more difficult to cope.

when i am depressed,, i want someone to lean on and share what i actually feel.. i want to let that depression go through talking to someone and that someone has also to give me some advises.. i think the perfect person to fit that someone is my significant other..when he's around i think that all of the pressures and trials that i am with will not take so long and will be gone soon..since i knew i can overcome it by his help..

Very good response jeztrose. I wish that was me, but I find it so hard sometimes to take the advice of other people, I just want them to listen. Most times I start to get angered when advice is given if I have not asked for it in a statement directly to the person.

I usually eat a lot when I'm depressed. I love eating sweet stuffs like ice creams and cakes. They make me feel relaxed. Comes another depression when I get fatter because my weight gain will trouble me next..

I got my first depression in 1998 and since that I time I have had good and bad periods. When I get depressed there are a couple of things that I try to do to make it easier for me to cope with the situation. I try to get out of the house as much as possible. I usually feel like staying in bed when I am depressed, but I force myself to get out of the house. My husband and I drive around on our island for a while and sometimes we go for a walk at the beach or in a park. Before we leave I usually feel that I don't have the energy to get out of the house, but when I get back to my home I feel that I am doing a little better and it does help me spend some time outside the house. I also like to write in my diary when I am depressed and it helps me to write about my thoughts and my feelings.
