Yeah, I sure do! Before, my only source of money is my allowance. But when I found a work opportunity, my expenses also increased significantly. Sometimes, my expenses are even higher than what is allotted. I oftentimes fall short of cash because of overspending -and that doesn't feel good. I have experienced many times when I wasn't able to eat lunch or snacks just because I don't have money at all -except for my fare. Now, how do I handle? You can do the envelope method. That's a great way of allocating your money to "where it should be spent". You can also have a coinbank. So, you can have a place where you can store your money (that you can later on get if you fall short of money). You just have to discipline yourself -like diet. My, where'd I get that. Have a nice day!

Oh, "growing up" is better. I'm done with the deprivation thing. And I'm glad. So, you also experience the same -you really should put effort on saving or at least spending less. Anyway, where do you usually spend your money? Does it go on food? My friends overspend mostly on foods and not much of the material stuffs (we just love to eat). Label the envelopes huh. You might as well allocate more money to the envelope labeled "food".

Hi jolope, I try not to postpone paying my bills, but there are times when I just have to do that, so I have a list of policies for all my monthly bills: some companies will charge you penalties right away (I always pay those first); others will charge penalties only after 30 days, so those can wait a little; others will not charge any penalties, just interrupt the services. I can live without cable TV for a couple of weeks, if I really need to postpone paying a bill. Also, when I have an important purchase to make, I put money aside and wait for 30 days. If the money's still in my account, then I make the purchase. Otherwise, I use it for emergencies. Hope this helps, even if I find myself often in trouble as well.

Your discussion reminds me of the movie shopaholic. It's fun buying stuff whether or not you have money to spend! My advice, spend only on what you really need. Savings should be set aside before expenses. Now if expenses are more than your income, try looking for another job that can pay for your lifestyle. If you're using credit cards, try having only one. Also, make sure to pay for the full amount on time to avoid charges.

Some questions to ask yourself: 1. Are those spending for needs? If no,don't buy. If yes, ask the following: 2a. Do I already have something of the same. i. If I do, is it to replace it because of wear and tear or totally broken? If yes, look for lowest quote for item or extend the warranty. If no, use the existing. ii. If no, use the existing. b. If you do not already have it, ask yourself why is it necessary in the first place? Can the purchase be deferred while you think about it? Hope it helps.

A lot can be said regarding money management but all would be meaningless if there is no self-discipline and determination to live by such resolution. If you're still a teenager and not yet working, money comes mainly from parents. Despite this however, it is really important to learn money management because sooner or later, you will be on your own and in the real world, no one gives you money without a work. What's more, nothing is free. This is one of the important reason why overspending should be avoided. As an individual, we have duties and responsibilities towards our family or ourselves. The fact is many of these responsibilities needs money in order to be discharge. I am also a spender before. I buy what I like and I buy it NOW. But then, the real world situation made me think that if I continued that habit, I would be the sorry loser in the end. By spending wisely, I've learned that I only need a few things to live and that not all you can buy can make you a happy or satisfied individual.

Hi, I can also relate to this since sometimes I also tend to overspend. One great advice a friend has said to me is to list all the things you need in the grocery so you would not tend to buy stuff you do not need and to fill your tummy as you get more items from the shelves when you are hungry. In the mall, you also must not shop on impulse, they say it you like something, then you need to sleep on it and most of the time the urge to buy disappears when you wake up.

Yep... I've been there and done that. The only way to get out of it is to become determined enough that you won't spend a penny that's not necessary and that you will put every bit of money you come by against your debt. It can be done. Put it in writing - all your bills, your income and your expenditures, then start manipulating them on paper. When you come up with a workable plan, do it. Good luck.

I would suggest that you make a budget and try to follow it. I also find that I overspend these days since I really don't have steady work. I currently always seem to have a bill to pay each time that I earn money online. I am hoping to correct that soon.

Hey there, I understand what you mean about trying to get out of that bubble that restricts you called your income lol. If you want to spend more than you make, it can be frustrating that your money at hand isn't more. I wish I made more, but that's not a reality right now. Anyway, I think everyone has experienced a bit of this in life. As for me, I try to live frugally. It not only affects me when I'm unwise with my money, but my husband as well. I do my very best to not spend more than I make, but just in case I miscalculate my income and/or expenses, I always have a rainy day fund in savings. I don't have a lot in savings, but if some disaster came along, I'd be ok. Anyway, I think it's wise to stay out of debt. That way, it's more manageable if you fall on hard times. It's also more realistic to "spoil" yourself by making a fun purchase with money you've saved up when your bills and debts are paid off. For instance, I just found out my sister-in-law lost her job late last week. I feel so bad for her. She and my brother have been married for just over two years. They bought a brand new house and a brand new car (on credit), so now they're making payments on those. They also spent their life savings on the down payment on this house along with a pre-owned truck. They have all these payments they could afford when they were both working, but now that she doesn't have her job anymore, all that burden falls on my brother's income. What I think is wise is to spend the money you have. If you want something, save for it. That way when you need something, you have money for it. Don't spend money you don't have. I know credit cards and loans make it easy to buy something without having the money for it, but I'd urge you to be wise. However, I definitely know what you're going through and how you feel as well. I've had those moments, too, and it's only human! I hope you achieve all your goals and wants in life, but that you gain the wisdom you desire as well. Take care!

I don't like overspending. I don't like the feeling it brings. I feel very unsuccessful if I did. I'm trying to save up for something and right now, that's one of my main goals.

You must come up a plan to control this deficit of yours, the same way as our government doing right now. You have find out what is your unnecessary spending, and cut it off. And what is important, and find a cheaper way to deal with it. That is my suggestion on your deficit situation.

I know what you mean, right now I'm in school and I just do freelance stuff on the internet for some money and sites like this. I'm trying not to spend any money and I usually do a pretty good job but lately I've been tempted to buy some things and actually wasted quite a bit of money on things I didn't need. I would say to direct your thoughts onto the things that you do need to buy and know when you can spoil yourself on certain items. Wait until you have enough money to buy the things you treat yourself on. Just make use of what you have already.

Hi , Jolope, try to set priorities and just spend within your means so that you will not incur debts. Try to allot a certain amount for the things you really need and disregard those that you can live without. Have self-control too. It is very important. When you go to a mall you can see many beautiful things but if it not in your list of things to buy don't lift your hand to get it for you might be able to stop yourself from putting them into your cart.:-) Making a list of the things you prioritize is a simple way of managing your personal budget. It seems easy but difficult to do but if you can acquire that self control/discipline, there would be no problem. :-) Good luck.

hi there jolope. you might be freaking out now but your fellow mylotters would help you out so calm down. as for me i never had experience that i spend more than what i earn cause that thought just freaks my wallet out. what i do is that when i go out to buy some groceries i make it a habit that i make a list before going to the supermarket and total the prices so that at least i have the idea of how much money i would spend. try this out too. bring the right amount only of course make bring some amount of extra money when you do groceries. that would prevent you from putting things which you don't need in your basket. and when you go shopping keep this question in mind "do i really need it?" if the answer is not then move on. do not stay too long on that stand that you may be tempted to buy a lot of stuffs. happy saving! :)
