Its a coffee place and not their home. People should also be considerate of other customers who wishes to dine at the shop. But with people who are so inconsiderate and would lounge at the shop like their office or home, potential customers would just leave and look for another shop to go to. That is a lost sale for the business.Yes, I know, the people who goes to the shop at a 8am-9pm are also customers. But a lot of times they just buy a coffee and stay there for the whole day. That is unfair for the others. I wish Starbucks would do something about it.

i never been to starbucks, but from what i watch in tv, the situation you describe is exactly what the owner of starbucks want. They don't want the customer to just buy and leave, they want to create a place to relax and a friendly environment.

What iam driving at is staying longer than neccessary like the WHOLE DAY!its understandable that people order their drinks or some pastries and stay a bit like 30 min- 1hour max. But I think staying in starbucks for 8 hours? What kind of relaxation does people want for them to relax in Starbucks for 8 hours anyways?i

Well, they aren't the ONLY people who wishes to have a coffee. I've seen some people who doesn't even buy anything! But just bring the pitcher of water to their table! Besides, who would drink coffee for 8 hours? How many coffee should one drink in a day anyway?don't they worry that they won't be able to sleep anymore after consuming 5 cups of coffee? One could jump up right on their feet even if someone just taps them on their shoulder. Too much of everything is also not good for the body.:)

maybe by staying there longer then the customers would buy not just one cup but three to five cup per day and because they've got comfortable in there, everytime they feel for a coffee they'll go to starbucks.

We have that a lot here too. Actually we do that sometimes ourselves, but we do keep buying a lot of stuffs and eat while talking or doing homeworks etc. Anyway I have always wondered why Starbucks allow people to do that. I mean sometimes people don't even buy anything and just stay in. I don't know how it helps/effects their business and if it does really effect them why they don't stop.

Maybe if you people buy food and drink just to make your stay justifiable then its ok. But I think those who just stay there without buying anything are thick. I see those people who stay without buying anything like they just want to be seen there.

People are in nature, selfish. They don't care what other people feel or think, all they care about is their own good. It's kind of peaceful and quiet inside Starbucks and while sipping your drink you can relax your day away from work ( or near :D ). Because also of the wi-fi connection (those punks) hahaha.
