Hello meriel, sorry to read about this, but gargling with warm water with a little salt added does help. Also in case of recurring mouth sores, taking daily dose of vitamin B complex and multivitamin tablets help very much.

Based on personal experience, me and my family just use good old "SALT" dissolved in warm water and gargle it. Do this a few times a day, and I assure that it works. However, if sore is found at the outer part of the lips, I think it's better to apply the appropriate medicine.

Hi, meriel. Welcome to myLot! Maybe you can try using Orajel Instant Pain Relief for all mouth sores, for now. I suggest that you also contact the doctor if your condition does not improve within seven days. Or if your condition has lasted already for seven days now. I hope that you will feel better. Take care.

Hello! I don't know whether I have misunderstood your situation, but I probably faced the same problem months ago. I felt very painful when I opened my mouth or chewed food. I could hardly eat and so I went to see a dentist and found out what's going on. The dentist said I have been suffering from "Temporo-Mandibular Joint Syndrome" . He said I probably hurt my jaw and mandibular joint when I was sleeping or eating. He gave me some medicines to relieve my pain (but I think it is useless) and gave me some useful advices to protect the joint: 1. Dont chew too much. You will easily get your joint hurt when you eat something hard. Try to eat something in liquid form such as porridge of rice during the recovery process (which can take very long if you don't follow the suggested way to protect your joint)to relieve the burden of your joint. 2. Try to relax yourself and don't close your mouth unless it is needed. It sounds strange but according to my dentist, when a person is completely relaxed, his/her jaw must be going down but not have his/her mouth closed because of gravity. If he closes his mouth, that means he is using power to have it closed, which is not good for your recovery as you are giving pressure to your jaw and the joint. (P.S I looked very numb when I was following his instruction. My mouth was flooded with saliva and I looked like a retarded. +_+ But it is really useful. ) After I strictly follow his instruction, the pain stopped within a month even I didn't take any medicine (I only have 5-day medicines). But now I cannot open my mouth as big as before and it seems my mouth has "fossilized" a little bit than before. I think I will probably hurt my joint again if I don't pay attention. Sorry for my poor English as I don't know the technical terms, but I have already tried my best to share my experience with you. Hope it helps and hope you get well soon!
