I have neighbours from hell. They are driving all our neighbous mad. This family got the house from the council following the death of the parent who was the tennant. They havent done anything with it since they got it. The front garden is full of rubbish, old beds, furniture, electrical stuff etc.. It is overgrown under the rubish. The wooden windows have hardly any paint left on them and one is half boarded up where they had a row and she flung something at him and missed. They havent paid their bins bill so the rubbish is stinking to high heaven before one of their relations gets rid of it. They have a dog out the back who is very neglected and is fed mostly by the neighbours on either side. There are all kinds of odd people in and out of there at all hours of the day and night and were sick of them. We have reported them and a skip was filled by the council from the house but its as bad as ever again. We have offered to do the house for them and were refused. This house is bringing down the whole area. Any suggestions??

I"m not sure what the laws are there but there have to be some sort of nusance laws. I would call the city or town where you live as far as the laws on keeping up with ones lawn ect. I know here you have to keep your lawn up and have a respectable looking yard. Though I know mine isn't the grandest but we try our best especially with several children and no garage to store things but we try. You could call your local animal shelter about the dog. Odd people comming in and out at all hours sounds very shady. I would contact the police about that and see if they could observe the activity at the house as here that would be a sign of illegal activity on the premise.

We have called about the dog loads of times. In Ireland the ISPCA dont have the right to enter a premesis so cant do anything. We have had the council out as well to no avail. The council have run out of money and wont paint the house or do the windows. And they have been raided by the guards as well. They just seem to get away with everything. My house is far from a mansion but it is clean.

A bulldozer! LOL. Seriously you have my sympathy. We had similar neighbours once when we lived in London and there was absolutely nothing that we could do that made a jot of difference. Eventually they ran off owing a stack of rent and leaving the property with an uncapped gas pipe! We could have all been blown to kingdom come. I think that all you can really do is what you have been doing and push the Council to move them on.
