As far as I know, there´s no wrong time to eat fruit. I eat fruit whenever I feel like it and make lots of fruit juices in Summer, blended with ice. In my country we usually eat fruits as desert, after meals, but it is just one of the times we eat them. I cook a lot with some fruits too, so that would be "during" the meals. It is also usual to send fruit as snacks for children when at school. An apple, an orange or a banana are the best choices because they are easier to eat.

In my country it is usual in Summer to give the children a blend of banana and milk. YUMMY!!! it is made instead of other milk additives for breakfast. I think they are called smoothies. I have never seen anyone get sick from that. What other fruit do you fear to eat before a meal?

OK - that is great to hear and also came across a new baby food which is useful that can be shared with my friends here. To be frank with you I do not have any segration of fruits and am rugged in consuming them and by the grace of the almighty I am having good health. But some instances come over which suggest according to science that we should not take that and this before meals. Hence some doubts arise...

My thoughts are that whenever we do eat and or drink them, it is the perfect time. Our bodies can benefit from them just about anytime we do consume them. So I don't believe there is a right and or wrong time, so as long as we treat ourselves from the benefits they do give us. As for your questions if before and or after a meal, that of course would be a preference. As there are times I do have them right with my meal.

Yes,your comments on the eating fruits are highly beneficial..and are also recommended. OK - so fruits can be taken as and when we feel. But I came to know that certain fruits should be taken only after meals.Such as banana (plantain) is usuaally and preferably taken after a meals.this is what we usually practice....and how about you...?

Yes hardworkinggurl, you have very nicely explained about those things and are right I totlly agree with you. As you say every individual have their own set up of the digestive system and should decide their own schedule of fruits to be taken and always be cautious of avooiding the fruits which give them trouble. Glad to note that you are free to take fruits as per your choice. Enjoy them to maintain good health.

I had not heard this about bananas, although I do not eat bananas. In my culture plantains are part of a meal. Our plantains are longer in size and the green ones which we fry with some garlic and salt. The ripe yellow ones are sweet and we fry them as well and can have the sweet ones with breakfast and or any lunch or dinner. I can imagine for digestive purposes that some are probably recommended for certain people at certain times. I have not had any issues with eating any type of fruits at any given times. I just checked this link and it describes for digestive purposes which acid and or non-acid fruits are recommended with which meals. It however, does not say any of them should be eaten at given times periods during the day: http://www.nutrobalance.com/foodcombinations.html It could be depending on a persons digestive system.

Eat fruit when you want it. It does make a nice dessert after a meal. It makes a great snack or the main part of a meal as well.

This is the first time that I hear of having to eat fruits at a certain time. My country exports fruits so we have many and unexpensive. I eat fruit at brackfast on a sunny day, I cook fruit fruit, I make appetizers with them and most of our dessert as plain fruit. Only when there´s company, someone might bring cake or icecream.

I just flick between the channels, the only draw of the x factor for me is Louis apart from that I can't really be bothered, this is the guy who gave us Jedward lol, such an odd bloke but he knows his stuff. I haven't been watching Channel 5 since Big Brother started, I guess I must keep an eye out for the interesting stuff. Downtown Abby, never watched it, but heard some good things about it.

Start the day eating fruit is a good way to full of energy. It is also adviceable to eat fruit at the mid-morning or the mid-afternoon. But the most suitable is in the morning, since the metabolism works faster getting the calories burned before it gives us. Fruit is a food with low fat and calorie intake. It contains fructose which is a substance that the body converts into glucose and energy. Fructose is not the same as the calories provided by carbohydrates and the body assimilates it much better and faster, burning it without accumulating fat.

Based on what i have read, fruits should be eaten before the meal because fruits are easy to digest. Your stomach can easily produce acid after eating it. If fruits are eaten after the meal, it might cause stomach ache or stomach disturbance because of the acid that will be trapped in your stomach due to the food you have eaten before fruits. That was I read from a magazine article. So from then, I always eat fruits before meals and I dont experience anymore stomach ache after eating.

busybee: In South India we normally are given plantain along with meals in parties. It is advisable to take along with lunch or dinner. Of course when you want to have extra fruits like apple, guava you can have at tea time in the afternoon/evenings.

You are right ravisivan, I totally agree with you. As you say we all enjoy the great plantain after the meals and is also served in manu functions and also during the holy gatherings as prasad. I like its flavor and is also good for health. Yes, I feel after the difference between afternoon meals and night meals somewhere in the middle we feel little hungry and is also advisable to have some fruits.

I think eating fruits before meal is better than after meal. As I remember, I read from someplace and it said that the acid contained in the fruit may affect the digest of the meal if the fruits is not choosed correctly.

expert say, should be before meal, because the fruit is consumed after a meal can't even properly digested and mixed with other foods. So the vitamins of the fruit can not be absorbed by the body very well.

i love eating fruits i love them because they taste good and they are very healthy for you and i am always trying to eat healthy i agree that they are one of Gods many great gifts but i do not believe they are the greatest haha i have never heard of a right time to eat fruits though i have always assumed that anytime is always a great time to eat fruits i dont think it really matters if you eat fruits before or after meals i think they could be used as a sort of appetizer before a meal like a salad is or a snack or desert after a meal
