Ive been invited to a wedding that I wont be attending as im babysitting for the best man (my son). Ive known the groom a long time as hes my sons friend. I also know the bride as she is my daughter in laws sister. If I was givinganything it would be money. Should I give a present even though Im not attending and if so how much money is suitable.

Tricky one but on balance I think that a present would be a good gesture. Nothing over the top but just an acknowledgement that you wish them well. Something between a toast rack and a toaster in money terms.

Hi, Teenal - It sounds like you're pretty closely intertwined with this young couple, as they are with your family. Although you can't attend due to babysitting for the best man's baby (your grandchild), I feel like a gift would still be appropriate. (It sounds like the bride is your son's sister-in-law.) The amount need not be extravagant, $20 or $30 would be fine, along with your best wishes in the form of a nice Congratulations greeting card. Let's just put it this way.... Better safe than sorry! Good luck!
