Research over the past 20 years in the U.S. showed that men are more sitting at the computer, probably their life is shorter than person who like sport (exercise)... Research shows how important sport and exercise with moderate intensity, such as jogging about 4 miles a day, not only improves fitness, but also adds age, wow. According to them, industrious men who exercise have a higher life expectancy than men whose lifestyles a lot of sitting at the computer. Exercise regularly to avoid shortening effect of age because of smoking and being overweight. Men with high blood pressure who diligently exercise have half the death rate than those who did not exercise. Men who walk about 15 miles a week or more had a death rate 21 percent lower than men who walked just 4 kilometers a week or less. Regular exercise prevents the tendency of genetic diseases that cause death. The man who one or both parents died before age 65 years, death rates decreased by 25 percent thanks to regular exercise. Men who are very active, including those who love sports, have a life expectancy of the most good. This is due to the death because of heart disease and blood vessels become less. Recent research in New Zealand also showed adverse effects for employees who live in depam more computers. The research mentions that office workers work long hours behind a desk, more prone to deadly blood clots, compared to aircraft passengers who travel long distances. what do you think about this research?? are you afraid when the fact that you are sitting too much because your computer??

Yes adhyz, I often read articles said that it is not good too much sitting. But, the problem I can not avoid it. I must sitting at least 8 hours a day in the office. Sometimes I feel stiff. I try to anticipate it with walking or stand up a few minutes, and I drink a lot of water mineral.

I don't think a whole lot of sitting is good for us either. It is better to get up and move around as much as possible.

I sit too much but I lie down more often than sitting. Does that mean my life will be shorter than it should be? LOL From now on I will stand even when I'm sleeping. LOL

I sit for almost 8 hours 5 days a week at work in front of the computer, now I have varicose vein on my legs. I think sitting specially in Indian sit causes the varicose vein but I can't help it. My body automatically do it.

Yes, i agree. It's not good to sit down too much or for too long because it causes our muscles to lose their functions. For people who are used to sitting, walking a mile seems like eternity to them, but for active personnel, that 1 mile is merely a warm up. Exercise is good for our body because it improves metabolism rate in our body, helping us to burn fats instead of storing them.

Plain commonsense and accurate. Sitting or standing or lying in one position for very long hours without stretching in not good for anyone. Good ergonomics requires that you relax or exercise those portions of your body you use often to prevent strain and future injury.

It is quite true that sitting for a long time everyday is bad for the health. Probably it will make you over weight and cause the high blood pressure and other disease. Everyday I go to work and go home on foot. It takes me about half an hour. I regard it as my daily exercise since I have to work in the office. So I have to sit in the office for a long time. It is better to do something good for myself. I love China

Dear friend, Regular exercise is no doubt could give one a healthy life, that too well maintained exercises. Moreover I feel sitting too much would make some cells inactive and it would remain idle, this may could get it be idle more and more. Moreover the blood circulation is most need part in a healthy body that is well attained while doing exercise. I do had back pains which was gone after I took regular exercises.

Hi adhyz: I think that's really interesting information, though I don't actually feel surprised after this researching. Our body need physical activity. I work in an office so I have to be in front of a computer and even in my days off I love to be here in front of a computer. I know the importance of working out and that's what I am doing to get the right balance. I have a Wii with the Wii Fit game and I exercise 30 minutes a day and I'm planning to increase the time working out to one hour a day to stay healthier. ALVARO

I used to do Wii faithfully...but it took 2 hours to get my calories burned. I used to do various exercises but having to start new ones takes up time for me. I ended up doing a lot of jogging in place... I do recommend the Wii..it was fun while while I did it...

I do chair exercises...I thighten my hip muscles and release, tighten and release several times ever so often. I also move around while sitting..it all helps Also you can pull in your stomach muscles and hold ...any movement helps.

I read an article not to long ago stating that if you have an office job and sit a lot, that it's best to get up and move around every hour for about a minute. Now with my job, it's pretty much impossible because if I'm gone for 1 second, someone needs me. That is what this study does. I have been trying to do this since I read it. It's hard, but I guess even if I just stand and stretch it is better than just being still at my desk.

Basically circulation is very important and to be seated anywhere for hours is very bad, specially for elder people who donĀ“t do much exersice elsewhere. Blood clots happens and even feet edema which is not apparently so bad but ends up in making the heart work more.
