Can earning money online replace a regular job?

India

Earning money online can not usually be a substitute of a regular source of income. So it can never replace a regular job, rather it can at best be treated as an additional source of income. Do you agree with my observation?

You can earn money online, but there's no way it will replace your normal job, unless you can figure out how to make enough money every month to support yourself.

I believe it is possible to earn online as much as others do offline. I actually do both and dnejoy making money offline because i interact with people but i really enjoy making money online too becasue it is easy and i enjoy it. I like doing both and i have a part time job while not working online and i work there at a job three days a week or four depenedfing on how busy they are and what they have going on in there week. Now i just work online like i am today on mylot to get the payout so i can buy some christmas giftrs with the money i have inmy paypal account already. Why not work online when i can and be busy with doing it too. I like to write and write articles everyweek to earn money.

But let me know whether your online income is sufficient to maintain a family of your own. What are the sites you are attached to besides mylot?

I don't agree with your observation because I have made my living online for well over 10 years now. How much you can make depends on what you can do and how hard you are willing to work - just like it depends on those things in offline work. There are opportunities online that are just as valid and pay just as well as offline work.

I was the Frugal Living Guide for what is now About.com for several years, then I went to Dollar Stretcher to build a forum and community for them, while free lance writing on the side. I still do some freelance writing and put in a few hours each month for Dollar Stretcher, but am semi retired now so I don't work as hard.

Hi peavey, would you kindly explain how you have been making living online for well over 10 years? Would you suggest something for me? For your kind information,I am a homeopath.

No. The online economy is the same as the offline one: it's entirely possible to work online. I do, though only part-time because of other responsibilities (not a job). If I was freed from those responsibilities, I'd earn a full-time salary (and quite a nice one) working entirely online.

Hi DoctorDidi, I think that depends on where you stay. Since gamers from China can make a living playing WoW, it is possible that people there can earn enough online to replace a regular job. For every dollar made online, they gain 6 China Yuan. If a person can make just two hundred dollars per month, that is more than a thousand yuan in China. Since the cost of living is still low in many small cities, that means people there can potentially make money online to replace full time income. The problem is that the China government does not allow them to access US websites, and their command of English is too poor for article writing.

Hi DoctorDidi, my country is not China. It is Singapore. I am sure you know how expensive things are over here. Even though many workers from India like to work here, they find it hard to cope with the cost of living here too. If workers who have dormitories provided for, and food provided for (in some cases), and with high volume of overtime work, find my country very expensive, you can imagine what life is like for us.

It seemed to me from your writing that you are a citizen of China. I am extremely sorry for the mistake I made.

It may be so that in case of citizens of China the China government does not allow them to access US websites, and their command of English is too poor for article writing. But in case of other countries where there is no restriction in access US websites, the same thing may happen as they also may not be comfortable in English, they may not have any specialized skill in any particular subject so that this skill may be used for earning money. So not only the country of your living, there are so many factors behind the success in earning money online that it is very difficult to fulfill them and ultimately most of the individuals give up hope.

I think it's possible. Online jobs are becoming more and more popular. I believe that part of the reason is because it can be a gd source of income, which can be more than that of a regular job.

generally yes....such as if you refer to different kind of marketing online or gpt sites to make money online in general is true that they will never substitutte your offline job..naturally if you apply this fact to a website or softwares developing it depends such as if your creation is really good to gain much users and so customers you can even substitute your offline job!!

You must admit that it is possible only by a few among those hundreds and thousands of people who are trying their luck for online earning.

I think you are right about that. I don't think that you can replace a job with an online situation. I guess if it was a regular job but was done online rather than at an office, it might work, but most online income is not like that. I keep hoping, but so far, nothing has come of it.

I strongly believe that an online earning can only be treated as an additional source of income but it can never be a replacement of a regular job. I also believe that if anyone is successful in online earning, he would think twice before leaving a regular job to continue fully with it as it is always a uncertain job.

If a person makes more online than offline then it can substitute it without problem. I know a few people who make more than 1000 euros per month from a single site, so they can really work only offline, with no bosses, no schedule and with lots of free time.

You can't be just fully dependent on the Internet income. You should have a extra income side by side unless you are not own any professional business like john chow, darren rowse, etc. who are just living their full lives on internet. People are very much amazed with the stories what are posted on internet which are mostly fakes. So should not trust most of them.

Yes, I am quite aware of it and never pay heed to such stories. I know that only a few may be able to earn so much but most others only struggle hard but earn a negligible amount.

I am sure at some point in time it could be a real possibility, but right now making money online is more of just extra money. Yes, there are people who do make real good money online, but those people have some sort of a trade. To start an online business is not an easy task, it takes time, money and total dedication. I feel that sometime in the future, it will become much more easy to earn online.

My views about earning online are also the same that it should be treated just as an extra money and nothing else. I have not that skill which enables me to quit my regular profession for earning.

Well I hope one day soon that we will be able to make money online without having to work part time. There are many sites that help your income but like most sites and like mylot, you only gain pennies at a time which add up eventually but just find something you enjoy when you want to make money. They lucky ones work online and make that their source of income so its possible I guess we just need to be lucky as those people.

Hi guys, To answer your question, DoctorDidi, if you can write articles that are free of grammatical errors you may want to try Constant Content. They are a long standing website where writers can submit articles and if they pass the strict, high standards of the site, they can be sold at a price determined by yourself. Once sold, the website admin take a small fee for editing and hosting the article and the writer is paid. It seems that you have a good skill so you are halfway there already. They only accept articles that are perfect though, or as near to perfect as can be... :) Have a good one!

In your opinion, if a person earns a descent amount offline then there is no use of replacing it online. At best, you may go for an extra income and use your spare time for earning online but if your offline income is not up to the mark, you may try totally for an online income. Am I right?

i do agree with you in one side, and that if your regular job is giving you enough or in excess of what you and your love ones need. but if your online earning does surpassed your regular source of income outside online then i can say its time to substitute the former with your online career..as others have done..it will give you free time and a chance to be with your family often without the rush of being late or out of due on your deadline...besides you're the boss of your own...

There a lot of people who are working to earn online. But how many of them have been able to build an online career? I personally a few can really claim such. So if any one has a regular job offline, he would never dare to quit it to earn online and depend totally on his online earnings.

Hi DoctorDidi, i don't think it is able to replace my regular job yet. Since i am unable to spend much time exploring for much better paying sites. For those who have the time to explore and learn lots of online knowledge and skills, able to earn good income from it. There is a friend whom i known through Twitter, had been earning quite good through online. Because she owned a few online businesses.

I also believe the same that for only a few, it may be a substitute of a regular job but for the majority like us, it is just an additional income and can never replace a regular job.

Online jobs is only secondary or back-up income for me and gives me the chance to use and experiment in the computer what I know or have learned or continue to learn. Online earnings had also been very pleasurable and thrilling to me even if I get scammed once in a while. I ask myself this question, " if I trade my off line biz with online earning, will I be able to maintain my life style?" my answer to my self is negative, although I know some people who also made it big off-line, I would not risk, I prefer to do both, think it is better and more profitalbe for me

Yes, I also believe the same that it is a back-up income. The income is very small but as it is a new venture, it always gives some extra pleasure.

there is a way that you can make money on line that can pay for food for the month. gas money or just money in your pocket. but i dont think it can replace a real job unless you are on the internt for 8 hours straight a day
• India

I think it is not the only criteria to spend 8 hours per day on the Internet for a regular income that can replace an offline job, you also require to fulfill some additional conditions like some unique techniques to earn, some special skills to earn and so on.
