don`t underestimate the team...maybe it`s the meaning for MU tonight i think they underestimate Basel... and the result?? they almost lost before Ashley young become hero for make draw for MU... Line up Manchester United: David De Gea, Rio Ferdinand, Phil Jones, Patrice Evra, Fabio Da Silva (Nani 70), Anderson (Dimitar Berbatov 82), Michael Carrick, Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young, Ryan Giggs (Park Ji-Sung 61), Danny Welbeck. FC Basel: Yann Sommer, Aleksandar Dragovic, David Abraham, Park Joo-Ho, Markus Steinhofer, Granit Xhaka, Cabral, Jacques Zoua, Fabian Frei (Scott Chipperfield 77), Alexander Frei (Taulant Xhaka 89), Marco Streller (Ryong Pak 81). no more famous name in Basel...only Frei and Marco Streller...but it`s not guarantee that you can underestimate your opponent.. No more Rooney or chicarito but Ryan Gigs and Ashley young i think guarantee... why i said they are careless?? because they did not watch that Basel can make draw...after leading 2-0 with 2 goal danny welbeck and in first half the score 2-0 for MU.. but basel play like hurt lion..they are "angry" and bomb David de gea with 3 goals from Frei (Alexander Frei and Fabian Frei)... Thanks to Ashley young, who make this situation become 3-3... it make the hard trip for MU..they only get 2 points from 2 matches... share your opinion about this match...

This was only an accident, I guess it is not a question that United will qualify from this group, although I would love seeing them out. Manchester will win at Basel, and the draw will be forget. The good thing for Basel is that this way they have assured themselves more money from UEFA and that they will finish on the third place in the group and they will qualify for the Europa League knock out stage.

it was not accident..basel deserve win if ashley young is not smart when finish the superb assist from Nani... MU play poorly and it kill them...luckily Young come in the right time for helping MU.. maybe MU will qualify, but don`t forget how Basel and Thorsten Fink (as Bayern player several years ago) do an effective tactics and playing

This is the Champions League, how many times did happen for the giant not to qualify further and a team from the third hat to qualify instead of the giant? This was a huge surprise, only a few people expected that Basel will not lose. So whenever this things happens, it is usually called an accident. I wonder if they would meet in the K.O. phase, what would be the outcome?

This is good for MU. They have the champion mentality. After trailing by 2 goals, they still managed to make it draw. Only the true champion can do this. So, they are one of the clubs to win CL (other clubs are Barcelona, Madrid, and Bayern).

"after trailing by 2 goals" i believe it was Basel that were trailing by the 2 goals but United did end up trailing 2-3, of which they needed to fight and push hard for a draw. Also Liverpool and other clubs needed to be added to the ones that can win the champions league since they trailed 3-0 and still won the game, shame they aren't competing this season but i hope they do next season!

@rdrajat : good for MU///this is bad for them...where is the part good in your statement?? i don`t understand?? @War : young come in the right side for helping his team... @bryan : fink use a right strategy for anticipating the tactics of MU..and maybe fink is lucky because MU can`t play several the best player

I would say that this is a mini upset. Especially given the current form of Man U, it was a great result for Basel. Welbeck seems to be in great form this season and he added to his tally. But the fightback from Basel was brilliant and this is where I am not sure that De Gea is the best choice for Man U just yet. Thanks to Young who snatched an equalizer to end the match on level terms. Cheers! Ram

I hope it is not the betting angle that has affected this match. I hope we do not have this ugly monster spoiling the game. So let's hope it was a mini upset. Cheers! Ram

@rap ; i never heard about the mafia who control the score...i did not read in all media in my country...and i don`t think that MU want to be involved like this stupid idea in football..how come you sacrifice your team and your pride because of betting?? @ram : don`t blame de gea..you can see whole the basel goal?? it`s difficult to be stopped...de gea always play better and better day by day...and i think he become the good goalkeeper and maybe can make history for MU

I have heard some supposition about this game, that the Asian betting mafia has influenced the outcome of the game, but I don't believe this. Manchester drew against Basel in 2003 also at Old Trafford and managed to win away. Basel is not a minnow anymore, they are constantly participating in the Champions League and they can make some surprises every now and then, although they are not a great quality team. They compensate with team spirit and a strong will, and they work hard for every ball.

FC Basel is one of the teams i have been studying along with Borussia Dortmund and both teams have great attacking players and really mixed youth with experience really well. They both have very bright futures, they both have great youth systems, FC Basel have managed to create such talents as Granit Xhaka,Alexander Frei and Xherdan Shaqiri. Borussia Dortmund also have great youth talents such as the well known Mario Gotze, Mats hummels, Subotic, Shinji Kagawa and also lesser know talents expected to rise such as Schmelzer and Moritz leitner.

It is surprising to see Basel that amount of chances that they had. If they had brought along their scoring boots, the end result will definitely be a shocker. The results seem to have open up a few weakness for Man Utd. Rio Ferdinand seem to going downhill and when vidic returns, I would think the England international will lose his place to Phil Jones. Another weakness, also shown at their 1-1 draw against Stoke, without Rooney, the Devils does not look as dangerous. Granted Britannia Stadium is a difficult to go to, but given Utd form prior to Rooney's injury, that tells a lot of story.

Ferdinand despite whether United fans like it or not has past it, he is the shadow of the player he once was, i honestly think he is one his last legs and will leave to play for another team or retire.

@sjlskl : maybe ferdinand must be replaced by joni evans...ferdinand had reached his peak performance...but he is too good for retired i think...Frei make different when his experience helps his team get 1 points....

Yes, man united underestimated basel as they think they are an easy team, and old trafford is their own fortress, whereby they have not lost for a long time. Though man united are missing many regulars of the team, still they have enough quality to win the match comfortably but they just gave it up when they have a commanding lead. It's lucky of man united to get away with a point when they could have lost.

yes, after leading 2-0 and the score become 3-2 for the opponent, what is the right words for giving comments for MU performance except they underestimate Basel..
