I believe the best thing to do is find his/her favorite, hobby and interest. And then give him/her something that related with those. I think it isn't that related with someone's age.. And anyway, by doing so, you will find a gift that affordable for your budget..

Haha, yes knowing the person and giving a gift is important. I was wondering what to give special to a person who just became an adult.

In my view, whether he is adult or teen, he will be happy if we give him something that match his interest.. And of course, he will consider it as special..

A lady might like a necklace with a globe on it showing the lady welcome to the adult world. In my home country the age 18 years is considered to be a grown up person. A man might like a watch that looks very special for his 18th birthday. Some people like to give a book that is empty inside. That was given to me for my 22nd birthday and I was told to fill it with my travel experiences. I wrote about my trip around the world in that special looking and very much treasured book.

Something special that only you would know. There was a conversation or a moment in time when the gift was mentioned. An eighteenth birthday can be very special if you want it to be. Something for them to remember you by. Maybe something you make or something that was special between the two of you.

Is the person a he or a she? But anyway, the gifts that I really appreciate are gifts that are personalized for me or somethings that I really love. For example a friend of mine made me a sketch that he made himself. A friend of mine also gave me 10 yards of fabric. It may sound weird but I love to design and sew clothes so that was perfect for me. So just give him or her something that is not so generic or usual.

When my friend has her debut, I gave her a bag because she loves bag. I had another friend who loves books so I gave her a book. I think you should give her something that interests her

I tend to give something that will never be forgotten or lost. I usually think of something so memorable. If the friend who's turning 18 is a girl, and she happens to be my best friend, maybe I could give her a scrapbook of how our friendship bloomed, to remind her of the best times we had together. But if it's a guy, I will give something to wear, I guess. I don't know. I don't really give gifts to men. xD Have a great day!

I never had a debut since it's a traditional Pinoy thing... And they're hard to afford... My 18th birthday gift did not come till waaaaaay after my birthday (September 14th). I made a wish on my birthday and it came true 3 months later. It was the best belated birthday gift/advanced Christmas gift ever... Finally meeting Jared/the mysterious guy who haunts my dreams that I didn't know about long before I knew him. I am now 20, and I also realized... My mom's sacrifices to make my birthday somewhat happy on that day when I was not feeling the birthday feel... She spent a lot of money on that and continues to spend her money on me. So she counts as the best birthday gift since the day I was born and every year too right? Just the time spent and being surrounded by loved ones for me is a great gift, treasured memories and realizing the work and trouble people went through to make your day extra special. But what I think the best birthday gift that you can ever give someone would be something from the heart. You don't need to go out and buy them fancy jewelry, or other materialistic things to please them... Just make them something? Put together a collage, photo memory book/album, create a shirt full of things that represent them or your bond with them. Let your creativity juices flow as long as it's straight from the heart!!!
