US Post office is "financially self sufficient" so why is it in trouble?

Is the post office in trouble because it can't handle its own business? Or is there a (choose which one or ones you prefer) sinister/stupid/greedy reason the Federal government requires it to pay for health care for employees who have yet to be born?

Personally the issues with the Post Office really makes no sense to me, and I know people who have personally been effected by some of the ones they chose to close. I know they are far from the only government type position where jobs are ending, and it is Sad. Makes you really wonder now what is really the most important?
