Hello MYLOTTERS, I have been observing that since few days i have been careless. If some say anything i easily forget that. Yesterday my wife told to buy some medicines from the medical shop when i will return from the office i forgot that. She asked me not to buy potatoes & cabbage from the vegetable market and i just bought these two vegetables only. There are so many examples which i can give here but i don't understand what has happened to me.My wife as well as my parents/brothers are worried why i am doing things which i am specially told not to do or forgets things so easily. How about you? Do you people do like this sometime or often?

Hello AKP, OMG but how can someone forget his bike. Ask him to see a doctor else he will enter someone's house thinking of its to be his house in future.

Luckily you did not forget who is your wife and who are your kids That logically implies that you are not suffering from forgetfulness. It is just something that is going on in your mind and keeping your brain more occupied. Maybe you need a vacation or some rest.... I too feel that buying veggies is a pian for me especially when my wife tells me NOT to get anything specific. In your case it is potatoes and cabbage and in mine it is tomatoes - just got 1 kilo today (forgetting that I already got 1 two days back) On second thoughts---- AM I GROWING OLD

@GF : Stress plays sometimes and we do end up in getting things messed up . But I am glad that neither of us(me, sjvg and also you) are so much stressed that we forget the people who matter the most

it is not that you do it. your mind probably has lots in it that it finds difficult to process things right. the lapses of the mind is not intentional. it can be caused by many factors.

Hi sj! I'm always like that so you're not alone, lol! But you know,I had this problem when I had my kids. They say my operations during my delivery is one factor for some memory loss,it's due to anesthesia that I got,I don't know if it's true or am I just aging? Lol! As much as possible,I do make some notes,I just put it down on my cell so I won't forget anything.

Yeah, maybe you're right sj about the operation thing. But most of my relatives are insisting that too much anesthesia can have some side effects like forgetiing things instantly. I guess,I'm just getting old, haha!

Hello MTR, I don't think operation during delivery can cause some memory loss. Thats right way to remember things but certainly it will be helpful i also think to follow it.

Sometimes when I have a lot on my mind I forget things and this is with most people. Dont worry about it, just relax and all will be ok. But if you start to forget more you should go to a doctor :D

Problem is that when you focus on the important things there are a couple of small things too that you forget about. And the other way around, focus on small things, you forget one of the main things. there are days with too much presure that I even forget to flush the toilet :D Too good thing is that my wife knows exacatelly what are the things I will forget about and reminds me about them :D

Hello svetli, Oh yes when we have several things in our mind we tend to forget things but we must ensure that we may not forget the important ones.

But people most of the time forget the smaller things they remember the important ones as far as i am concerned i do it like this. I know people sometime forget important things also but i think they loose a lot if they do that.

hello sj, even i tend to forget things most often and i feel its because of lack of concentration.its not easy to remember all the things if you are handling several issues at a time.and also if you are facing some sort of problem or your mind is engaged in some other activity, you will not pay attention to what is been told to you and later on you will forget.

I agree with you, khare. Sometimes we have too many things on our mind, so we can't really concentrate very well on recent things.

I think it's normal to find yourself doing that. Now if you were asked to do this hours before hand I can see you getting side tracked. Perhaps an organizer or writing lists will help keep you on track. If I don't write lists I can't always remember what I need to do as I'm easily side tracked especially on a lazy day.

Hello snugglebunnies, I also think so if i start writing things that way i will not be able to sideline the things and may be able to perform well.

Its not a problem at all. Your mind is just absurd at that time and it takes a little time to be normal. I am damn sure that something is hitting in your mind and just try to find out it, then throw it way and enjoy. All the best.

It happens to some people and fortunately I am excluded. You must be preoccupied and this could also be temporary. A bit of meditation early in the morning should help you clear your mind of whatever is bothering you. Also have you thought about eating the right food. If you surf a bit on the Net you will get the list of foods that improve one's memory.

Awh sjvg don't be worried as it will add to the already existing stress you already are undergoing. You know what helps me is that I will write down a to do list each and every day. What I get to I cross off and then put the others on the top of the list with more of what needs to be done daily. Don't worry friend as life will get easier and things will slow down. Just take your time and when your wife asks for something just put her requests on the top of the list. Someone told me about the to do list a long time ago, and really friend this can be very helpful as it also exercises your brain to think back a little daily and you will be amazed as to how much you are going to accomplish this way. There will be days you will not feel like doing anything, that is okay but at least when you refer back to the list anything important is reminded right away.

Well, Sjvg, reading all the responses you will realize you are not alone in this. You don't need me to tell you that everything is normal from a certain age. I wouldn't blame the age but the amount of stress accumulated. I suggest you to arrange for a short vacation somewhere far from the daily activities. Surprise your wife with this vacation, go spend a few days together in a nice place and things will go better.

Hello Surekha, Oh yes when our mind remain occupied with various things and as we know it has limited memory then it tends to forget those things which it find less important. Its true that these days people have to work more in lesser time to survive in this competitive world.

Are you eating well and taking in enough vitamins and minerals? Our brains don't work well if we are not 'feeding' them. The first thing that seems to be affected is our memory centre. If you are really worried you should go to the doctor and see if anything can be done to help you regain your memory, and listening skills. I wish you all the best!

One thing i learn to prevent forgetting things, is to make a list of "to do" , at the beginning of the day. Halfway down the day, you will check it again to see what are those that are yet to be done. Then, before going home, check it again for some other things to do . That way, you will not forget any single thing.

Hi! I think we sometimes become forgetful. I think you just have to listen carefully and focus or if you think you are too preoccupied with a lot of things write them down in a notebook so you'll just have to check it if you forgot something.

hi there sjv! well, you are not the only person who is suffering that. i am too is suffering from forgetfulness. maybe that is because there a lot of things to be done everyday that our minds become too selective on what has to be retained. and one factor which i believe that caused me this is my diet before. i was fond of eating junk foods. but now, i am eating healthy.

Maybe you are thinking too much, or you are bothered to something else. Try to relax yourself and focused on something that is simple and happy. Take a break from your daily routine. Loosen up buddy, smile, laugh, take a vacation or anything that will make you comfortable.
