India started their revenge series against England with a bang. They crushed England by 126 runs to win the first match handsomely. Batting first, India found themselves contained by England for the first 35 overs of the match. But then Dhoni and Raina exploded with quick fifties to take India to 300 runs. England then started well in the reply and reached 111 for 2, but then the spinners came into play and England middle order crumbled like a cookie to be bowled out for 174. Ashwin and Jadeja picked up three wickets each. Cheers! Ram

The revenge series has started in style. England beat us in their home, and its time for us to pay back. 300 was a very good score in last match, the boundaries were big and the runs were not flowing very well, but as you pointed, after the 35th over, Indian team explored and reached 300 mark. Dhoni played a superb innings, Raina & jadeja supported well. Fielding was also very good. England team in reply, started well, but was unable to handle the spin. I thought Bell is a great miss for English team as he is a good player against spin. all in all the Indian team performed as a good unit, with team work. Its a good start for the new season and hope that India will really pay back for the loss in England.

Yes, it was Dhoni and Raina who started the assault. Then Jadeja joined in the fun. I am actually happy to see Jadeja contribute with both bat and ball. Cheers! Ram

In last two series England have lost 5-1 and 5-0, and this is simply because they dont have any idea about how to change the game in middle overs when ball becomes soft and spinners are introduced. In World Cup match they almost managed to chase down big score of 340 just because Bhajji was not in form and Chawla who is extremely poor bowler kept bowling short on a flat pitch. Its likely that India might get pitches like the one they got in Hyderabad , as now BCCI has started making pitches according to liking of Indian team management, especially coach and captain. We saw that in India-NZ series before world cup and even in World cup pitches were made to give the home advantage which is quite fair as Aus,SA and England even SL doctor the pitches to suit their team .

I think the World Cup match was a one off if you look at the recent performances of England in India. I think they struggle against spin. But in Andy Flower they have the right coach to help them as Flower was an exceptional player against spin. Cheers! Ram

Hi ram, It is a nice feeling to be crushing England in the manner Dhoni and his men did yesterday. If we continue in the same manner, It will compensate to some extent the thrashing we received in England. Initially though it appeared it is the repeat of England show when the team was languishing at 139 for 4 after 34 overs but once Dhoni, who took 18 balls to score his first 5 runs, and Raina pushed up the accelerator helped by batting power play which was taken in 35th over, 161 runs were added in 1ast 16 overs. That took the match away from the Englishmen who found it difficult to cope up with Indian wickets and their spinners. They started well against the pace helped by their skipper Cook who scored 60 from just 63 balls but once the spinners came to the scene there was a dramatic collapse, tumbling from 111 for 2 to 137 for 7 in a space of just 40 balls and the innings was folded at 174 in 36.1 overs. The trend may not change much for the rest of the series although nothing can be said in cricket.

Yes, the thrashing we received in England was really bad. So India would like to return the compliment to the English players. So this was a good start for that. Let's hope we can continue to dish this up!! Cheers! Ram

Yes it was very Good match and i feel good with he news that INDIA had won the match in a fascinating manner. I had some work so i didn't able to go through the match but i got the news that INDIA had won by 126 runs. It is great win for INDIA as well as Dhoni who scored a very good 87 runs. Our bowlers mainly spinner do well and restrict England to low score make the victory possible.cheer INDIA defeat them badly and take the full Revenge Go on high

Actualy we were nt week to lose the england series on england. Its all bcoz of that IPL, frm that only many player injured due to lack of rest.

I think yes the injuries from IPL did contribute. But it was also a reflection of how India played in England. They were a bit meek in those games. Cheers! Ram

Last time England was here we nearly did the whitewash. But then the Mumbai blasts suddenly called off the game. I think now the Indians have a chance to do this. Cheers! Ram

Congratulations to Indian team for a commendable performance. The boys were ably led by Dhoni as India routed England in the opening fixture. India first came back strongly with the bat to post 300 which was commendable on such a slow & low track. Dhoni & Raini batted quite well. Then, the slow bowlers esp. Jadeja and Ashwin kept chipping away the wickets by applying enough pressure on English batsmen who played rash shots and got out cheaply. I just hope Indian team takes the gains into the remaining of the series and uses home advantage to the hilt and not led the advantage slip.

Jadeja's performance with both bat and ball was very encouraging yesterday. He is a very talented player. But I am not sure whether he has the mental ability to perform at this level. So in that scenario, his performance yesterday was very heartening. Cheers! Ram

Dhoni again showed that how much he is capable if he is determined to do a thing. But the series having a long way to go and India couldn't sit relaxing if they wants the opposite result of the last England series.

I think the biggest gain from this match was that Dhoni started flying his helicopters again. I think he is at his best when he is attacking. Otherwise when he goes into his shell then he is not very effective. Cheers! Ram

Yes, this result is a real boost for Indian team and Indian fans. After such a disaster series against England. If Indian spinners play like this and there are no flat pitches then England might find this a very bad series for themselves!

Yes, both Ashwin and Jadeja played well. English batsmen were clueless to the variations of Ashwin. Jadeja also cashed in with his straighter one fooling the English batsmen time and again. Cheers! Ram

Yeah at last india won an international match after losing a series of matches.Let us hope that it will be a clean sweep for us in this tornament so that it will be a sweet revenge for what our team suffered in away soil. I am also wondering whether there is a huge advantage for home team when it comes to cricket. When a sub continent team goes to england or australia they perform either below their standards or miserably but when they play in home ground then they become leopards again.Likewise teams from countries where bowling pitches are made, they have no clue how to play spinners in india.

I think the English boys a bit shocked at this moment. India was playing pretty meekly when we were in England. But now, suddenly we are on attack on our grounds. And yesterday's result would have really put the cat among the pigeons. Let's see how the English lads respond. Cheers! Ram

This was a good performance by India. Let us not talk that this is a revenge series. In sport we should show more sportsmanship. Indian team has won quite comfortably. Team England is no pushover. It is necessary for the Indian team to keep their wits together.

I think there is always sportsmanship. It is not about whether we want to be vengeful. It is more about branding and that is what makes sports very exciting. You want to be competitive and come back from losses with wins. Cheers! Ram

Yes, the margin of victory was huge. In these conditions if you do not know how to rotate the strike against spinners, it can cause heavy defeats. That is what the English boys witnessed today. Cheers! Ram

Yes, for Indian fans it was very good. We batted really well and Dhoni was flying his helicopters all over. Then again English batsmen struggled as usual against spin. Cheers! Ram
