I love soup, all the cold weather months I will have a pot on the stove, the fact that we can come in cold from the outside and just pull a bowl out and spoon in some good hot soup, means home and security to me. In the Spring and Summer I crave fresh things like greens, but in the cold it's soup.

For me, as for you, Winter means soups. I go from a broth drunk from a mug while I´m mylotting to all sorts of vegetable creams, soups with diced veggies and a bit of diced fried onion, legumes either blended or soupy lentils, dry beans or chicken peas. But the soup I like best as have it as a main dish (as I always eat seconds) is the onion and potato soup. It has grated potapoes (a bit fried), fried onion cut lenghtwise, broth, milk and diced cheese. AWESOME!!!

Wow , Marguicha , it's the second time you make me want a food you describe in details :) So , I also want to rais up the appetite : My grand mother makes a special soup in the winter . That soup is made of orange vegetables that are grated with a mixer. The vegetables are carrots , pumpkin , sweet potatoes and even tomatoes (tomatoes are always good for a soup because of their taste and color). She put them all in a pot , boil them with water and blend them in the food proccessor , she adds some spices like pepper , some salt and paprika. This soup is very healthy because of the advantages of the orange coloured vegetables. The boiling and the mixing make the materials more available to the boddy. A soup that was cooked with care and love in the cold weather is not just warm , it is also warming the heart , making us love the one who cook for us. It really makes me love and appreciate the care of my grandmother , bringing us all around the table , share our stories and be united :) Have a nice and tasty and warm in the heart , marguicha , you made me want to cook a soup by myself :)

Hi Stringer, I have never made that soup, but I´ll certainly try it. I make all sorts of veggy soups, but not this particvular mixture basically because tomatoes are better in Summer. But I love a tomato soup so I could buy some tomatoes or even a can of natural tomatoes. We have the rest of the veggies in their natural and best taste the year around. Thanks and have a lovely day!

Hi savypat, I love soup too and as you say, especially in cold weather. I think it's always been that way as I can remember my mother making big pots of soup when I was a kid. It would be a meal in itself, with all the meat and vegetables. There would always be salt beef and maybe mutton, chicken or turkey necks, but it was always delicious. I guess most people just don't have the time to cook that way anymore. Blessings.

I actually eat soups all year long. they are easy to make and very healthy too. I just made a new kind of soup last night. It had beans and some Italian sausage.. it was very good. Now that I am home all the time I make soups a lot more too. But when I used to work I would put it in a crock pot so that when I got home at night it was all ready to go!

I also love soup specially made from squash so yummy. However, the weather in our place at the moment will not be as perfect with soup, its too humid in here the heat of the sun is striking on my skin and my sweats are flowing; the best food for this time would be Ice cream or lemonade with cold fruit salad. but when the rainy season will come I will absolutely cook soup and other sweet desserts. Enjoy eating.

I'm not usually a big soup person. I found a great recipe for broccoli cheese soup that my family loves though. I'd like to find some good recipes for soup that can be made and makes lots of extra for leftovers. I'm a fan of crock pot girls on facebook and they post a new recipe and video of making it each week and other people contribute their own recipes so I'm hoping some for soup come up.

I have made 4 different types of soup and chili in the last few weeks. My kids devoured the broccoli cheese soup the fastest and the potato soup was their next favorite.

Yes, it's getting to be soup weather! I'll be making some meatball stew tomorrow and next week I'll make vegetable beef soup. I bought some low calorie hot cocoa at the store today and I have plenty of tea--time for some hot food and drink! It's not really cold yet but I can smell it coming and it's the perfect time for soup. Enjoy yours!

I really like soup too. I make it a lot in the winter time. I just made some last week. It was minestrone and it was delicious. It really can put a person in a good mood after being out in the cold and being miserable. I know my husband really appreciates it when I make it from scratch. My daughter loves when I make chicken noodle soup.

I live soups in the winter too. Seems like they have a way of warming you up when it is cool outside. I like lighter type food in the summer too.

Our family too eats a lot of different soups during the fall and winter months as well. Some of the soups that we have on a regular basis are chili, vegetable soup and soup beans. I also hope to try out some new ones this year. I'd like to learn how to make some potato soup as well because it is something that my daughter really likes, but it is also something that I have never learned to adequately prepare unless it comes from a package.

The most common soup we have here for the cold is called "sopas", it's nothing more than elbow macaroni soup with cream, diced carrots and celery and shredded cheese ( optional) If we want exotic or Chinese then we go for "mami"(noodles), beef, chicken, wonton or shark's fin (not real shark's fin since we don't patronize that anymore) If we want native then it's " chicken tinola"(chicken with chili plant tops green papaya and ginger) or Beef Bone Marrow soup or "bulalo" that has many variations like with potato, cabbage, whole pepper corn etc... (not recommended for the elderly)
