Budoy - Gerald Anderson as Budoy
Philippines
October 15, 2011 1:04am CST
Budoy is a local Philippines show from Kapamilya network-ABS-CBN. It started last Monday, October 10, 2011. Gerald Anderson is Budoy, and the story talks about the life of Budoy, a mentally challenge person . It tackles about family, relationship and social issues in dealing with a mentally challenge person. I was able to watch a few episodes of this show and I can say, Gerald is doing good in acting as Budoy. As he said, he really prepared for this show, he observe in special schools, he watched DVDs so that he would be able to portray the character very well, which I think he was able to do it successfully (so far!) Any of you who is watching this show also? What do you think of the show as a whole? What do you think about the cast including the main character? Share your views and opinions.

Yes, i have see an episode of it but didn't finish it. I hate seeing shows that really demeans a special person. I hate it that her Lola would act that way to him and how Mylene could let her own son be made to act as Zsa's child in lieu of the lost Budoy. How could they do such cruelty to their own bloo, just because the boy is a special child? That's why i don't want this show. But yes, indeed Gerald has become a very good actor.

@simplyd, yes sometimes it really hurts to see how they treat a special child but actually it is happening in reality. Sometimes, if special children are outside, in the mall or restaurant, people keep on looking at them and would whisper things, some would even laugh. It is really mean but its reality. Somehow, this show would help people understand them better, and hopefully it would open their eyes that these kids are called special that's why they have to treat them special and not to receive bad treatment. Thank you for your response! @masang, yes, it is happening in reality. Some people just don't know how to treat a special child. and as I said, I hope this is an eye opener.

Yes, it happens in real life. Sometimes other people reacts negatively to special children. So that's why i don't like that show because it reminds me of those kind of bad people.

Hello Katrinapaz, I haven't watched the show religiously but every time I watch it, I just can feel how emotional the show is. Good thing I don't concentrate on watching it because for sure if I have my full concentration there and I am able to feel the show, I would cry too and for sure my husband and son would just tease me too. Thanks for responding and happy mylotting.

I watch the show every night. Gerald really plays her role perfectly. He's really a versatile actor. I like the show. You can get good values from it especially learning how to respect, understand and accept special children. In reality, that's what we lack specially in the Philippines. We usually make fun of those kind of children. Every time I watch the show, my mother instinct comes out. Sometimes I was even very emotional.

Hi Masang! I think a lot of mothers would be able to relate with the movie, not because they have a special child to but because of the love being given to their children. I'm sure a lot of tears would be shed by people who are emotional. Thanks for the response.

nope, it's the first time I've heard about it. Maybe because our family mostly tuned in to GMA 7. I have seen only one of his series which was shown I guess two years ago with Kim Chiu when I was still out of the country. Maybe I will try to check that out since it looks like another good series, if it doesn't conflict with my moms favorite series on Kapuso =)

I have watched Budoy since it started. I can say that Gerald is really doing well in his role. AS to the cast, it's a good line of veteran actors and actresses. They are all doing their roles excellently. What is really striking to me is the culture of the rich and famous. The situation is practically the reality of our society. People who are conscious of the prestige of their name are very particular of the image in the society. As the series is progressing, it is portrayed that poor people are always at the mercy of the rich. That they are very grateful and indebted to the help extended to them. Mothers are portrayed in different levels. The matriarch, the daughter in law and the surrogate mother. There are 3 levels of mothering being portrayed. I guess many can relate to the role of Janice and even Zsa Zsa, the underdog by virtue of her status before her marriage to the son. I would like to see Gerald's portrayal as something that could really touched the heart of the viewers., though he had exhibited it last two nights. There are many things to unfold in the next episodes. we will just have to watch and enjoy.:-) The actors and actresses are well chosen to play their role.

yes i always watch it everyday, i think its good that all people watch this because many people are discriminate a child or a person who has mentally challenge like budoy, and the story is like protecting reputations of their name in terms of their medical standings. That's great thing with gerald anderson he work and prepared like a professional, i applaud him for doing that, but sometimes i cry because budoy is being bullied and disregarded by other people who not know him so much. keep on watching.
