The funniest things happened to me when I looked in Lehmans. I seen a luxury toilet that didn't run by running water, no! This toilet was a composter toilet. All those rich people have toilets that spritzed after usage and we have tough tissue. The toilet was over a 1000 american dollars. Do you want to grow your own food with your own compost that badly? ;) I had a dog to grow a tomato when i was a kid.

I don't know, it seems pretty neat, but I don't understand how it's done unless it's like on the nasa spaceships http://bit.ly/nNNA6J I wish ceo's would quit taking our money and use these toilets instead of wasting our money, they could recycle their own toilet paper too! :)

It was wise of your mom to make use of the dogs wastes. The tomatoes must have been growing really healthy and gave you lots of fruits therefor. We are trying to grow various types of plants out of the materials we get from trying to have a compost of lots of waste materials which, are mostly coming from the kitchen.

I guess it’s not a bad idea to keep dog waste for compost if you can stand the smell! I’m afraid I have never been that environmentally friendly! I would go for the dog waste before my own as I much prefer to flush after I have used the toilet although I can see how resourceful and environmentally friendly the idea is.

It stinks, but it's sustainable obviously if a doberman/airdale can grow a tomato plant from her poop. I have a friend that decomposes her own compost and soil, i don't know whether she uses crap for that, but she's pretty into organic and the green thing.

I don't have any idea as to how this type of toilet would look like. it sounds very environment friendly though. But, I can hardly ever picture in my mind as to how it is being carried out. As for the dog compost, I am doing that myself. Saving all those dog wastes at the compost pit and let it rot among those other biodegradable house wastes is easy to understand as to how it is being carried out. Too bad that I am not into reading so much magazines anymore. I am already hard of reading. In order to be able to read well, the material i am reading will have to be well lighted, just as how the computer monitor works perfectly for me. Otherwise, most of my readings will have to done with the aid of the sun's excellent lighting system.

There is another thing to think about when talking about composting toilets and that is the waste of water. It takes between 4 and 7 gallons of water for each flush. Say 4 gallons per fluse and you (or family mambers) fluse an average of 10 times a day. That is 40 gallons per day and 14600 gallons per year. Just think abut how much water you use durig a year with a normal toilet. Thee are many other places that sell composting toilets and they do not cost as much to purchase. From what I have read, it takes a year to compost human waste to be able to use it in a garden. I do not think that I would use it in a vegetabel garden but maybe a flower garden.
