Associate Content is one site. At times you can get an upfront payment of a particular amount. The most I've gotten is about $4.00 per article. On top of that you do get performance view payments too.
The downside is whether or not they accept your articles. For some reason a lot of my articles have been rejected and I've not been able to figure out why. They have the reason listed, but oddly enough I can't seem to access it.
CloudCrowd is another that is now accepting article writing. I think they pay about $8.00 per article. But these tasks aren't always available and you have to take a test first. You may even need a certain credibility score too. But just like Associate Content, they're particular with what they receive. Any work done is looked carefully by another CloudCrowd employee who will either accept your work or reject it. If it is accepted, you're automatically paid, usually within one to three business days.
The Examiner is another, but unfortunately, it only pays $1.00 per article that is local. Other than that they pay solely for referrals and how many views you get. The main thing with this website is to keep writing many articles per week, and to drive your reader base to your articles. This takes up a lot of time, but some people have succeeded well on this.
There is a website called Smashwords.com. It is not a site for articles, but rather for e-books. Anyone can write a book and publish it on there and sell it for a fee or for free, for someone to pay or receive, and download to read. But again, self marketing comes into place here.

That's great. I gave up on Associate Content particularly because they expected a synopsis along with the article which I found to be quite cumbersome. I will go through what you have suggested and hope to find some place where I am judged for my writing and not by how many have visited my page. Thanks.

Check out Helium. They give article assignments and they pay you when they have chosen your work.
The best source of job for article writing is in ODesk. There are lots of job providers looking for article writers.

Good morning, dear one! I am so pleased that you got some good responses to your question...as my impart would be "non compis mentis!" This new cyber world has almost made me feel virginal again....LOL! And that takes quite some doing!
Your avatar right now...reminds me of a few years back I had 7 Muscovy Ducks, but they had red feet..and bills! And they loved (very unusual) to live in tree branches! YES, m'dear...DUCKS in trees! Have a lovely day!

Sorry 'bout the foreign language...I do tend to forget that not only did I have to learn French as a second language, but my mother-tongue (which I have forgotten most of) is Swedish...so often when my mouth is working faster than my brain, duh, words of another origin creep in!
Dang! I got up at my usual time 4:00...and could NOT log onto this site until 7:03..either my ISP (seemed not to be) OR this site overwhelmed!
A lot of people here on the lower mainland, I live in the Gulf Islands, but part of the same territory, raise Muscovy Ducks, because of their penchant for resting, etc., in trees...it alleviates confining them, so they are safe from the many predators...on my Island, raccoons..but elsewhere, coyotes, bobcats and the likes tend to raise havoc with any form of ground stock, chickens, turkeys, ducks.
Do you have raccoons, they are raucous little devils, and right now, depriving me of sleep, as they too...are finishing off the grapes that were too high for me, atop a ladder to reach!
Must run off to work, now, but will get back to the other responses I owe you, later today..as I am just finishing a site and moving equipment!

That's cool perga..using foreign expressions in one's writings it is my ignorance really that I had to search.
. No. We don't have raccoons. But my garden which is designed to attract birds have them visiting me in numbers. I am a landscaped garden designer and after I gave up my 9 to 5 job got into this business and was in it for a few years.

As I commented elsewhere, your problem is not having time and not the "non compis mentis"situation. And by the way I had to search to find out what this meant!
. You are unnecessarily worrying about technology. It is just a matter of application and I am sure you will excel in this once you sit down and get the hang of it.

I am referring to article writing. There are so many sites who want visitors and more the visitors more one gets paid not that these visitors know what writing is all about.
