“How much land does a man need?”

India

The costliest building in the world belongs to India and the credit goes to Mr Mukesh Ambani of Reliance Group of Industries. It is no doubt a great achievement for India that in spite of being merely a developing country, she can boast of such a prestigious building in the world. But with humble submission, let me know if Mukesh Ambani has ever heard of Leo Tolstoy and read his famous short story, “How much land does a man need?” If he has not so far read it, I would request him to read it immediately. What’s your view about the matter? Have you heard of Leo Tolstoy and read his short story, “How much land does a man need?” Apart from Ambani, there are several actors, businessmen and politicians across the country who are squandering their wealth for personal gratification. Do they need to lead such ostentatious lives? God has given all of them much more than they need. I gratitude, they should serve humanity by building orphanages, schools and hospitals for the poor. I think the increasing gap between the rich and the poor is the reason behind the increase in robberies, murders, kidnappings, corruption and in the antagonism against the rich. Do you have the same view like me?

Squandering their wealth for personal gratification? I think all things in moderation. People that have worked for their wealth should be able to spend it however they like. It isn't up to us to tell them how they can spend it and how they can't. It is theirs after all.

It is true that it isn't up to us to tell them how they can spend it but I think you must admit that we have the right to criticize them.

I don't think it is any of our business to tell them how we think they should spend their money. They worked for it and it is theirs to do as they please.

The right to criticize is democratic. So I must criticize if it hurts me.

You are so right, now a days what is happening in our country is that rich is getting more richer and poor is getting more poorer. So there is no one who asks for the middle category of humans.

And if you think deeply, you will find that the rich is getting more richer by exploiting the poor and that also in a dishonest way.

There are multiple instances of people building wealth for themselves and all is because of their capacity and we should understand that and also respect that.Because of their own capacity ,they are earning well which a layman cannot earn for sure. But i feel all these rich people should also contribute to poor people or donating to charitable trusts etc. There are already many famous personalities doing this now which is appreciable

Hi DoctorDidi, It is completely unnecessary for one person to have so much wealth, and in reality no one can own land. They may think that they can and they may have documentation to prove it, but history will show that it isn't true. We are very materialistic beings in our thinking, but we are also material and are here for a very short time. The Occupy Wall Street movement which started in the US and has quickly spread around the globe, is proof that our system is in trouble. It's crazy that there should be Billionaires in the world, while others go hungry and someday everyone, even the rich themselves, will see that. Blessings

Stockpilling lands are sure way to earn money in the future that way super rich people loves to do that.Because lands values increase in value as times goes by and the development always hunger for lands.Crime in community and society is not entirely the rich fault.Even in communist countries there are crime. Is more of society fault where people are left out and left to rot.

Hi! Some men cannot be contented with what they have to continue to expand their riches even though it will harm many people.Although not all rich people are like this but some are really mean and money is the only thing that is important to them. Let us learn to be thankful and be content.

Dear friend, Somethings are very difficult to make into practical. The gap between rich and poor can be solved if the rich use their money to upheld humanity. But it should be that those they help should not poke from behind. Anyhow on the other side if rich hoard money and this may adversly affect the economy of that country. There should be a helping hand to those gone back and they should be given an hand to come up. Moreover the rich should keep a part of their profit for the erradication of poverty and injustice in this world.

Yes, i agree with you entirely. The rich, the super rich and the filthy rich in our country whoever they are always believe in showing off and in a vulgar manner, the wealth that they have. One has just to read the newspapers to see the number of scams that have taken place recently to know how thesegreedy people want more and more and will do anything to get their hands on more money. They do get caught but they are completely shameless. If all the unaccounted wealth were gathered together then no person in India would ever go hungry. If the money could be channelised for good work then our country would become one of the topmost nations in the world.

I agree you too. But you know are people who just need need and need... whatever how much it pay. Because if you have money you have feel pay something and if you have much money you have buy land, cars and all what you want. I know your feelings and in your place I feel same like you...
