Looking around this site and others I am often struck by how many older people, women especially, are making a comfortable side-income via computer marketing. You may have heard the term "Silver Surfer" as a name for older surfers. I think that the silver is in their business acumen. Are you qualified for your pension and happily trading away online?

I am a 66 year old American female who is not silver because I color my hair. I get a small amount of social security and I have a p.t.job with irregular hours. I make a little money online. Not very much but it is extra money and I use it to be good to myself. Fortunately, I do not have to use it for the basics as of now. I hope to be able to increase my online earnings as time goes on but I am most definitely not making a comfortable side income on line.

I got my first computer at 62 years old. It has changed my life for the better. I actually just submitted an article about this for Associated Content.
It is interesting that facebook was developed by young people for young people. And it has become so valuable to us seniors.
I am going to my 50th high school reunion next June. And it all began when I set up my facebook account. I got an email from facebook telling me that I might know someone on facebook. It was a woman who graduated with me from high school. And next June, over 100 of us will be at the high school reunion.
And here I am mylotting about it. One thing keeps leading to another. It has all been mostly wonderful.

That's so wonderful bostonphil! So many people who are unfamiliar with computers are reluctant to learn how to use one even though there are so many opportunities online.
Congrats on your 50th high school reunion! It sounds like it'll be a good time!

I am at the silver age. I wish I could qualify for something. As for pension the company that I worked for went bankrupt and lost all, well the majority of the pension. So if you can give me more information about the "Silver Sufers" I would appreciate it. I have never heard of it before.

"Silver surfers" is a name for older people that use the internet. Many of them are running small businesses online. Unfortunately there is no "school" where we can learn these things. I am sorry about your pension. Many people have been similarly afflicted.

I have passed by silver to stark white, but unfortunately marketing and I have an intense mutual hatred. I don't even know how to haggle!!!!!
However, I have found my own way of investing on-line. It is not something I would recommend to most, since it took 5 years and a lot of money to develop, there are huge risks involved, and I have no idea how to do it anywhere but on Australian sites.
It's no Monte Carlo bank, but I earn the equivalent of our two pensions (which being Australian is reasonably generous in terms of overseas pensions but still not enough to get by on) by betting on a system I have developed for greyhound racing. In six months I have recouped about 60% of the development costs, and by the end of the year will be well into the black.
It takes up about 25-30 hours a week with Tuesdays off for recreation - er, actually, recreation translates as a 5 hour return shopping trip to our local pseudo-metropolis, since out local village supermarket is horrendously expensive and going broke into the bargain.
I'm thinking of taking up day trading next.

I knew a professional gambler years ago. He said that once you had forced your way through a certain barrier wins invariably outweighed losses. His problem was that the more he won the less willing bookmakers were to take his bets. He made serious money though. Big house with land, Jaguar car, expensive clothes and a lifestyle to match.

Fortunately I get to bet with the totes, who take their profit off the top and so couldn't give a monkey's how much an individual wins. It is their archives which allowed me to do my silver surfing to develop the statistical basis of my system. But there won't be any Jags for me, don't want the clothes or the lifestyle, and we already have a house on acreage which we're quite fond of. But relatively small though the winnings are, they beat online earnings from Mylot and friends hands down lol. And they're tax-free and don't affect my pension payments.

Since most of the websites don`t have a limit for how young or old you should be to join why not ? If they can make a buck and have a little fun then they should do it.I am far from silver age but since i plan to live at least 200 years i may become a silver surfer one day

I guess you could call me a silver surfer although my hair is more gray streaked than silver. I'm retired (sort of) but I make extra money online and work part time for an online site. I've been working online for... a long time. The internet is a real boon to people like us who don't want to,or can't work a regular job.

I am not old enough to qualify for a pension. I do earn all of my money online though. I will do it for many years to come, I hope.

lost my whole ddd response.copypaste to clipboard.I am a piker pikey as I just have mylot and my survey which I earn enough to pay
almost all of my cable bill which helps as 125 a month is all that's left after gold c rest takes out the room and board each month.the greedy owners have our checks come to them so they get first cut and leave me with 125 after room and board are taken out.I imagine them at St peters gate and him telling them they were too greedy and he will not let them in lol lol.but I sometimes make around fifty a month with the two sites. I really do enjoy mylotting a lot I used to make 40 a month before I ever came here to Gold Crest.

Earnings from this site have dropped Hatley. I think that it is because there are so many more members now. You are an inspiration to us. You battle on. St Peter will welcome you with open arms and head you straight for Heaven's internet room (via your husband and family)! But not yet! He can't have you because you have to stay here and be pestered by us!

Hear, hear Pikey! Hatley, there is a new law - you have to stay on MyLot and leave St Peter tapping his foot and looking at his watch. We need you - especially for telling off the miscreants here, like the one in Box1. Nobody can tell it like it is like you do.

Well from the sounds of it you have researched this area, so as soon as I am grown up enough to have earned my pension I will be picking your brain of knowledge. At the rate our country is currently undergoing, sounds like if I am lucky I will get a dime as my retirement.

HaHaHa there are so many of them here. I see they work hard get their pockets full in their last times. Because they are old they can't do any hard work or any job which requires much of travelling but sitting at home and making money on internet is one which has caught their eye on.

The truth is, I really would not mind it so much. I think in their old years they have accumulated enough wisdom and experience to handle things their way, specially in the internet. I think the elders are just weaker physically, but their minds are not something we can just under estimate.
