Are you satisfied with your current internet speed ?

These days when surfing the internet, I've found it's very slow when I open a webpage even the LAN speed supposed to reach 4MB. It's abnormal while I thought should it be there anyone stole my account? But when I tried to download some videos and films from internet, the peak speed could reach approx. 400Kbps, which is supposed to be the theoretical max. speed under the 4MB LAN setup. It confused me where should the problem be. I need to pay almost 200RMB per month for the internet access, it's so expensive and the internet speed isn't up to my expectations. Compared to the internet speed ranking, the average speed of the 1st place,South Korea, is over 20MB! So amazing! Hopefully the internet speed here in my place could be improved in the visible future. And what do you think of the internet speed in your place?

For web browsing and mylotting i'm satisfied but for downloading files specially files up to 10GB i'm not satisfied. My max download speed is only 65kb/s so in short i can download a 200mb file in 1hour which I think is quite slow.

http://speedtest.net/ The info I got about my internet speed was dl speed: 0.16mb and up speed: 0.20mb I think there's a mistake. It's clear in bittorrent that my max download speed is only 65kb/s or 0.065mb/s not 0.16

Still acceptable speed and not that bad. And maybe what the page http://speedtest.net/ is telling you the theoretical maximum speed regarding the connection of yours, or there should be some problem.

Agree with you and we are suffering from the same situation, especially for a online live TV program, it really makes one upset and out of patience.

I am quite happy with my internet speed, both on the desktop and the laptop. The speed gets slow some times, probably due to some virus attack. When that happens, I scan the system using the anti-virus program. That clears up the system, bringing the intenet speed back to normal.

I use DSL at the maximum allowed speed I can get from AT&T here. It actually is pretty fast, reliable and meets my needs for what I do online. The upload speed is probably a little slow for my liking but that's okay because I don't put up much online.

Alright, I have to pay Rp125.000 (or around $15) each month for my internet, and here is my internet speed test result: Download Speed : 0.39 Mbps Upload Speed : 0.09 Mbps The speed isn't special, but I satisfied enough with that; since I can open most websites with reasonable enough speed.

0.39Mbps ~ approx. 400Kbps, that's pretty same speed, while it cost me double of yours (200RMB ~ approx. 31USD. By the way, I like your avatar, a pretty cat. :)

I am also not satisfied with my connection that's why I am planning to apply for another one. My connection is only up to 1 mbps which the truth never reach it. the speed is less than 1 mbps only. Maybe you are sharing your internet connection with others that's why it will affect the bandwidth that you are using.

Maybe I need to contact the service operator to dig out where the problem is.

In my place it depends on the connection. There's a so-called PLDT myDSL here in the country and in my province it is showing very good performance. I also cannot afford it so I settled for a prepaid kit which can be really moody sometimes. And there are times even that it's speed is affected by the weather. It is at its slowest when it's drizzling or raining outside.

Hi Ben, I want to say that I am very satisfacted, very very satisfacted because my location is in Romania, the second country of mondial top of internet's speed, and the first country is Korea. To download with utorrent I reach 6 Mb per second, and I'm using a wireless router 54mbps, and I think that is great.

My internet has a 120GB download for a month so I can watch and download as much as I want, I just reach about 10gb which was my highest, I don't tend to watch an awful lot. I reckon my speed is quite alright but it depends on the peak and off peak hours. I usually go on at night because it's a slightly more faster as not a lot of people are using it during the night. But sometimes, in the day time my internet just starts lagging and get quite slow. It really annoys me, it forces me to be patient. My friend has the same internet plan as mine except she only has 6GB of download. She uses it all up in like 10 days and her internet gets capped, becoming really really slow. It took her like 20 minutes just to load up a 5 minute video on youtube! So I like my internet speed.

I think the main problem is your Internet company. You should ask their customer service about the speed. Different price has different speed. I am not pretty sure that China company how define their speed and price. For 200RMB, that would be approximately about 40 US dollars. It should be enough for more than 4MB service in America. 4MB is pretty slow and would be influenced heavily by the network that company used to connect your house. I don't know that they has change the cell phone line or not. For most of nations, they have already changed the line into fiber which is called FTTH. It would provide more stable speed. However, if your company still used traditional cell phone line, I could not say its quality is ok. 200RMB for just 4MB, that is as same as robbery in China. It's pretty expensive with such poor service. Anyway, you should ask customer service first to check the speed.

Because there's no other service provider here in our place than the one we are using we have no choice but wait while its loading...we can complain but that won't make any difference..
