Would you respond to a super old discussion?

old discussion - old discussion but with good quality

I prepared a response to a topic for another site but unfortunately when I am about to post my response the topic is closed already. Since, I don’t want my response to be put to waste. I opened mylot and search for the keyword that is related to my post. I actually search for three keywords and all of them gave me a result wherein the discussion is old. One was created one year ago, the other one was created two years ago and the last one was created five years ago. Those were super old discussions but anyway I pasted my response to one of the discussion. Now for the discussion, would you put a response on an old discussion, say it was posted one or two years ago? Or would you rather start a new discussion? Why or why not?

I have responded to discussions which are old in the past, because I didn't realise how old they were until I opened them. I made my first discussion four years ago now, and I still get the occasional notification to tell me that somebody has responded to one of them. I think that it is amazing that people still find my work interesting, so I like the fact that they choose to respond. I will simply respond to anything that I find interesting, and it doesn't really matter to me just how old that discussion happens to be.

Hello GemmaR, I think receiving responses to your own old discussion would really feel great as your discussion is still being noticed after a long time. I do receive one or two responses on my old discussions even when I was inactive here. Thanks for your time and happy mylotting!

Yes I have been known to respond to old discussions, especially if I find it is very useful to revive the discussion. See responding to old discussions gets them to jump to the recent tab. I have especially enjoyed that although the discussion was an old one that after my participation and revisit it a bit later or the next day more members have contributed to it. It has also brought a Lotter back to active and appreciative for their topic being revived. Not always but I have also noticed that active members were interacting back and forth in the old discussion.

hi edsss oh yes as I get responses on my old ones often and it brings them back to life. I love it I get fresh opinions on the discussions I had thought were all too old too interest the moderns who all like only the newest of new. I love it when someone digs up my old discussions and actually likes responding to them again.

I don't respond to old discussions, hardly i do. Although i haven't heard from a rule in myLot that if you respond to an old discussion they don't pay you, i think it still counts. I like commenting on recent discussions because chances are that people aren't really going to read my response.

Hello vasumathi, I think it would really happen as you don't have lots of friends when you are new hear, and the tendency is that we would just search and post away without thinking of the date of the discussion. Thanks for your time here. have fun mylotting.

Hi red! I would definitely respond to the old discussion if I find it appealing and if I find that the user is still active. I would know that he/she will revisit and comment and make it interesting.

A lot of people seem to be of the opinion that it's not "worth" responding to old discussions because the original poster may not be around myLot anymore. The original poster doesn't have to be around at all for other people to continue discussing. If you have something interesting to say, I think you should always say it - no matter how old the discussion There may be plenty of folks that would currently like to discuss that same subject matter

I guess I would post on an old discussion. You never know if the people still check it for responses. I sometimes go back through the old discussions that got no responses and see if I can write a response for them so they don't feel neglected lol. I don't like when I don't have any responses to a discussion I started so I try to help people out by at least giving them one response.

Hi red_amethyst, Yes, I would respond to an old discussion for as long as it catches my interest, and I have something to say about it. I remember responding to an old discussion some months back and the member who started it expressed surprise and was really pleased when he responded to it.

No matter how old, these topics are still available for responding the only problem as I see is they get the 'recent' status and thinking that they have not been responded one opens them then realises that they are old. The problem arises when one wonders if response has already been given which requires one to search and find out - a pretty time consuming process.

That depend on the question itself. Some same questions can have different answer depend on time and situation. If question still related with current situation I gonna answer it but if not, I gonna make new discussion.

i don't mind responding to an old post if it interests me. Old posts would still make you earn if you are going to post your response. The fact that is it still there even though it's old, i think you still can benefit from it.:-)

There are two things to consider when answering your question. Is your goal to earn as much money on mylot as possible or are you concerned about creating a good discussion from the topic you are answering. It would mean two ways on dealing with a old discussion. If your goal is to make money, then you can answer an old or new discussion and still earn the same amount of money. So it does not matter at all. But if you want your response to be replied and create a healthy and lively discussion from it, then I would suggest you start a new discussion instead. Chances of getting a reply from a super-duper old discussion is little to none. I think I will write an article on this. So fun your discussion!

I would start a new discussion. For three reasons, many are new here, many are gone and there is so much new information that might be added to the original discussion.

Sometimes I participate in old discussions if it looks like something I'd be interested in. I've been doing that a lot recently because none of the new discussions are interesting to me.

I would still want to respond to an old topic especially if I am really interested on the subject or I have something important to partake. :)
