In the EPL this weekend with a lot of the top teams slipping, the big winners were Man City, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle. Man City thrashed Man U by 6-1 to go top of the table by 5 points. Chelsea then slipped their chance to go second in the table by lost 0-1 to QPR. Arsenal continued their move up the table by winning 3-1 at Stoke. Newcastle continued their fantastic start by winning again to move to the third place in the table. Tottenham moved above Liverpool by winning away to Blackburn while Liverpool dropped two points against Norwich. Which was the result of the weekend for you? Cheers! Ram

Was Evans off in the first or the second half? Is he the key D player? can that Even be an excuse?

I think the whole United defense went missing yesterday. Evans got a red card and was off. Ferdinand and Evra were awful yesterday and hence they really paid for it. Cheers! Ram

He was sent off in the first minute of the second half. So Man U played the entire second half with one player less. Evans is not the key D player, he is filling in for the key D Player in Vidic who missed the match due to suspension. Cheers! Ram

It is a strange weekend over Europe: United losing at home with 6-1, Bayern losing away at Hannover 2-1, Chelsea losing to QPR and Barcelona couldn't overcome a 0-0 draw at home against Sevilla. As for EPL, you are right, these teams are the big winners, and the most surprising result for me is the 1-6 from Old Trafford.

For all the other results, I would blame it on the tiredness from the midweek Champions League matches. But in the Manchester Derby, both clubs had played midweek. So this excuse definitely does not account for the poor performance of Man Utd. Cheers! Ram

Of course, both of you are right. With the kind of bench strength these teams have, tiredness is not an acceptable excuse. They just need to plan for this workload. Cheers! Ram

Hannover has played on Thursday, Bayern two day earlier, but none of the teams have seen tired at all. The game has got the world class indicator from kicker, the most prestigious German sporting newspaper. And I have to agree with jkct, this cannot be an excuse, at least not at this early stage, and not when you have had some time to recover before the previous games. I guess they know better, but I guess there are other factors also which influence this games.

not one, im a manchester united fan..... this is one of the worse day in the history of man united. i did not understand why no man united can keep the ball in midfield. we really need stronger midfield to play the likes of man city. i hope next meeting will be a win. i do feel sad for liverpool also

Yes, the Man Utd team looked completely lost. I think Evans had a bad day with the sending off. But apart from him Ferdinand, Evra, Fletcher and Anderson all had matches to forget. I would have expected a bit more of a fight from Man U. Cheers! Ram

Being a Manchester United fan , the dismal result of 1-6 was a kind of unexpected scoreline for me.. Who would have thought money can overcome talent even if it is for a single match.. The Man United backline needs some fresh legs..The impenetrable defence of man utd was kind of a speciality throught the club world. But now it is succumbed to Man City mainly because of below par Evans.. The midfield can be improved with the same squad itself but the defense problem should be adressed now itself....

Yes, the defense went missing for most of the match on Sunday. Of course, Evans was sent off, but for most of the game Rio and Evra went missing completely. Man City forwards cashed in and gave United the worst drubbing of the Sir Alex era!! Cheers! Ram

For an Arsenal fan like me, the best result is definitely the victory over Stoke. Stoke is an much improved team and is proving hard to break down nowadays. Beside, they are one of the bogey team for Arsenal. Coupled with how the Gunners has started the season, any victory is much welcome. But from a neutral perspective, the result of the weekend is the hammering of Man Utd. No one would have expected Mancs to streamrolled United, not at Old Trafford.

Yes, it was a good victory against Stoke. But what really worries me is the weakness against the set pieces. We conceded one more goal from the set piece against Stoke. Cheers! Ram

Well, it was terrible weekend for Man United and Chelsea, but especially for Man United..Liverpool has also losing chance to win the match at home again, after Last week being held by Man United and Norwich this weekend. It seems they must make change after Gerrard come back, they are not find proper attack mode. Arsenal has made good move and also Spurs..I think the competition become tougher and tougher since the range of points between top seven ,even top ten are really close..Meaning anything can be happened in future..The most consistent club so far is Manchester City and Newcastle, congrats for both of them and also their coach..

I think the problem with Liverpool is taking their chances rather than anything. I think in the match against Norwich they did everything but score. If they had taken their chances the scoreline would have been something like 5-1. But unfortunately they kept missing. Cheers! Ram
