All You Can Eat Buffet

In a few hours I'm going to an all-you-can eat buffet. I love this place. It's a Chinese Buffet, but it also has a lot of other foods. I am really hungry right now, but I am avoiding eating so that I can eat a lot at the restaurant. I usually eat mostly sushi when I'm there. Do you ever go to an all you can eat restaurant? What is your favourite thing to eat there?

Hello GoGirl149, I have been to an all you can eat buffet here in New York and let me tell you, you can take how much food you want. I always take an extra plate and take it home with me.

Oh wow, I don't think the all you can eat restaurants where I am let you take food home with you. Lucky you!

Hello Judy. It is very unusual to be able to take any food home from an all you can eat buffet.

I live in the buffet capital of the World(according to me)where you can find numerous all you can eat buffets, from $5.99 to $85.00 per person. At first I Didn't even bother to cook at home, because of the ridiculously low price of buffet some years back....Lately its a rare occasion that you'll find me dining in one.I got tired and gets overwhelm of the amount of food they serve it feels like I'm already full even before I start eating. When I do find myself eating in a Buffet I tend to eat seafood items like lobster, crab legs,shrimp....and of course desserts. Try to avoid drinking beverage while eating so you don't feel full right away. ENJOY!!!!

You are so right about avoiding drinking. I remember there was another buffet restaurant I had once gone to, there food seemed to be very salty, and I kept drinking water because the salt made me so thirsty. I didn't realize until later that I had barely eaten anything (by buffet standards) because I was so full from all the water. I never went back to that restaurant.

Hello GoGirl and welcome to myLot. Yes I do like those all you can eat buffets. But I have noticed the difference in the food with in a chain. Some of their cooks are not as good as others. Some time ago we went to one and the breakfast food was terrible but an other one of the same chain across town had very good breakfast food. Buffets remind me of church pot lucks. There is so much you want to try and even if you take a little bit you end up with a plate full and a very full over stuffed tummy. I always tell my self i'm not going to fill my plate that much but then I can't help it as I go down the line and this looks good and so does that. The next thing I know I need a plate with sideboards. It's not just the price but also the variety of food available to try.

LOL. I remember the day we went at about 15 in a Greek restaurant a Saturday night after a day of hiking under the rain. Entrées and desserts were offered in a "all you can eat buffet" formula. In front of 15 hungry persons, it was a disastrous error. I came back a few weeks later in this restaurant and there was no more an all you can eat buffet offered.

My favorite all-you-can-eat restaurant would have to be GOLDEN CORRAL!The food is very diverse and it tastes good too. My favorite thing to eat there is probably the pie, but everything there is equally good. The last time I went there was with some of my family and we would eat, sit and wait till our appetite came back, then get more -Laughs-. But the restaurant is very good in my opinion and I love eating there.

Hi GoGirl149, I love going to all you can eat restaurants, and my favorite type of food depends on the restaurant. If I were going for Chinese, I would say orange chicken! But something like Hometown Buffet on the other hand, where there is just a traditional variety of foods, I would say anything fried - shrimp, fish, chicken etc. I would say that's a good plan you've got to not eat anything before going - that should allow you to eat more. In my opinion it's not worth going to an all you can eat type restaurant unless you can eat quite a few platefuls haha. You've definitely got to avoid drinking too much water or soda during the buffet though, and I would also say you should skip the salad bar - that will just fill you up! Whenever I go with friends for dinner we always skip breakfast and lunch and by the time we get to the restaurant we just devour everything in sight. One time we went to a buffet and by our 6th plates the manager came over and asked us if we were going to eat much more LOL. I think they were running out of food and feared we would eat it all haha.

We do the same thing if we can help it we try not to eat the meal before we go to a buffet. We want our monies worth right?!?!? *lol* We like going to Chinese buffets when we can go. My fav thing depends on which one we go to. If it's the chain we I usually like their General Tsao (sp?) as it's not very spicy and their battered chicken pieces. If it's the family ran one that has a lunch buffet I like almost EVERYTHING! But my main things are egg rolls and their egg fu young they serve there as the other buffet sux when it comes to those two things. If we go to OCB I really like making a steak salad. And of course they have a nice desert bar so I usually have their bread pudding over ice cream

When we have some family celebrations where we want to go with the younger members of the family, we go to a very nice all--you-can-eat brasilian restaurant. The food is very well prepared and there are different foods for different tastes so that children don´t fuss. We, the adults, might eat a little more than at home, but not too much. We bring to the table some sort of appetizers to eat with either an apperitive or a juice and then each one gets what he/she wants. The idea for me is to have a wide selection of well cooked food and be with people I care for, more that filling my tummy. When I eat too much, I generally feel lousy later. The meats at that restaurant are usually very good, and there are some black beans that go just right with it and fried pineapples, bananas for the sweet taste. As for the appetizers, I usually have things I don´t do at home, such as some sea food I love but who have too much work.
