Why do people kill in the name of God?

Religion is supposed to propagate and manifest God's undying love for his creations. But why is it that there is so much enmity and hatred in the hearts of most believers. History, not to mention current events, is littered with the names of those who slaughtered helpless and innocent people in the name of that loving and merciful God. Why do believers from major religions often times have to slaughter each other in the name of God. Are those innocent victims of religious wars not enough that more blood needs to be spilled? Is killing innocent people necessary to show our love and obedience to God?

That was an excuse to kill, so they would have authority. God is perfection and goodness, I'm sure He wants us even to not eat Animals, to not hurt trees, I'm sure He loves us all and don't think one is more important than the other. It's humans who created certain rules but they are all wrong and changing all the time.

I think we are on the same wave length. Agree, man creates everything that makes us happy and unhappy most of the time.

Those who kill in the name of God are all murders. God doesn's agree to any form of killings. One day they will have to pay a bitter price for their killings.

I agree with you that God does not condone killing of people in his name. The character of God is so distorted by religious fanatics that leads them to believe that by killing they can profess their love, obedience and loyalty to God. This is truly sad.
