I have registered with two different sites one for a free domain name and another for free web hosting. The free web hosting service however says: "Your domain is not yet pointing our server, so services such as FTP, Website Builder or File Manager may not work. "
Have you all had this experience and how did you tackle it.

Hey allknowing, I'm not sure whether you've got a domain, because no one gives a domain completely for free, you might get one along with hosting plans or ssl certificates or stuff. It is very possible that you've got a subdomain.
Just in case you do have a proper domain, you can manage DNS settings or forwarding to your webhost server from your domain registrar.

It is a main domain but I am at a loss to know how to forward it to the webhost server. They have given me two server addresses. Why two? This is what they say:

To point your domain to our services, you need to visit your domain registrar (where you registered the domain) and change the name servers associated with your domain to our name servers and also remove any existing name servers that may be associated with your domain. This is a common process at all domain registrars as it is required anytime anyone changed who hosts their website. For specific help on changing the name servers at your domain registrar, go to their site, login and go to the help section. Search for 'changing name servers' or 'changing DNS servers'.
Our nameservers can be found by logging on to our members' area, entering the control panel and navigating to 'View Account Details'. After you have updated the nameservers of your domain, it will start working in 24 - 48 hours. You will see the message 'Your website is up and running' after visiting your domain.[/i]

You must have recd a e mail from the site which gave you the free domain. log in there and change your name servers to that of your free server host.And I can help you to create your website for free.

I cannot locate the control panel of the free domain site even after I log in. I have already got the domain name. As long as I cannot access the control panel I cannot do anything. It is in the control panel where instructions would be found to change this. But I am stuck.

The change in name servers takes upto 48 hrs to come into effect . you can use Kompozer(free) as your web editor and Filezila(free) to publish your contents on line.

I cannot locate the control panel of the site where I have registered for the free domain. I have already got the domain but to point it to the hosting site I need to go to their control panel which I am not able to.

If you have made the changes to the name servers then it takes some time for the internet to get populated and that may take up to 48 hours.

How I wish I alos know about it...for in my website it's my friend who set it up.... We can use mylot search for a reference. I wanna try it too or in youtube. This post leads me to be curious. Thanks :-)
