for sure we all have dreams and aspirations , some of them are attainable and some of them will never happen, for sure when we were kids we wanted to be somebody but as we grow old its either we will pursue that dream, or pursue something else. Or maybe we do want to pursue that dream but problems like financial stuff makes us not go for that dream. There are people on the other hand who got changes of dreams because they lost interest and something convince them to pursue something else. Who is that person you wanted to be when you are a child that you didnt become? whats the reason why it didnt happen?

hiya Captain I always wanted to become like my late grandfather. I always had admired him and his life has so many ingredients that would keep my life rocking. Unfortunately I could not become anything near him because when he started off, things and people were simple and there wasnt much of competition. Also as I grew up , I realized that I am more happy and well of working as an employee and will fail miserably in case I started hiring people.

You just make me question on how much I love my family, cos I just realized from my childhood I never aspired to be like any member of my family, I never have them as a role model,.I want to ask my self if do I really love my family.

That is unfair. Loving anyone doesnt mean that we would like to one of them. Idols can be different. So please dont bother yourself much on I am quite sure that you would have someone special as your idol and would have thought of being like him/her

I agree that you can love someone and not want to be like them. Although, I am very much like my mother, and I don't even try. I also have much of my dad in me. My dad was a great cook and he loved baking pies. So when I do stuff like that, I almost feel like my dad is right beside me. There are parts of my mom and dad that I wouldn't want to emulate, but they did have great qualities also.

I wanted to become a psychologist or a psychoterapist, but those dreams didn't come true. My grades weren't good enough to study psychology at university. I applied but I didn't get in. Psychology is a very popular subject and there were more than 2000 applications at each university, but they were only looking for 200 people, and the only people who got admitted were people with extremely good grades. The other obtion is an education as a psychoterapist. It is private education, it not that had to get in, but it is very expensive. It takes four years and the classes cost about $6000 per year. In addition to the classes the students have to pay for their own therapy. That is compulsory and it is expensive. I didn't have the money to pay for that education, so I had to give up that idea as well. Instead I went to nursing school, it wasn't my childhood dream, but I liked it anyway because that also gave me the chance to work with people.

I think that I was about 10 years old when I started thinking about a job as a psychologist. At that time my friends had very different dreams, they wanted to become actors, singers, journalists or astronauts like you, but I had different dreams, and the idea of working with people was something that I always found interesting. Sometimes I still think about psychology. I would like to be a therapist and I would like to have my own clinic where can talk to my clients and help them with their problems. It is too hard to get admitted at university, because psychology is an extremely popular subject, so I don't think that is realistic, but I haven't given up my dream about a job as a psychoterapist. It is expensive, but if am able to afford it one day and I will take that education.

You know my parents didnt know it, nor my friends. Oh well that boyband became a 1 hit wonder. seriously why would they want a goth dude in a boyband.

Do you think you will still considering to pursue psychology someday? Or are you contented already with your life as a nurse? A psychologist dont sound like a childhood dream to me though, It seemed like its something you wanted in your teens.Finalcial problems and survival are reasons why I cant pursue my dreams too. My earliest childhood dream is to be a scientist or an astronaut, science is my fave subject as akid until I met Chemistry and Physics, damn I hate calculations, I hated science by an instant when itbecame mathematical, On my teens dont, I want to be a singer.there is an opportunity but I let it past cos its not the genre I wanted.

When I was a kid, I wanted to become a lot of things. I wanted to be a teacher, I wanted to be a fashion designer, I want to be a flight stewardess. But I became none of them. My path did not walk down straight to any of it. I guess those are the things that are not just meant for me. I was curved for a different purpose. I think my environment and influences around me had something to do with it. I mean, I did not had the right influence to achieve those goals. There weren't any teachers, designers or stewardess around me so I did not know what to do to achieve those dreams.

In my case when I realized I dont have the skills forthat job, I ditch the dreamand dream of something else. There is a field where Iknow that I have the talent but I cant pursue due to practicality.

Some of my dreams has become true in my life and some are not.If the dreams about myself, I got those dreams with my self effort. In my child hood, I used to see the aircraft flying overhead, and I was thinking whether I would get chance to fly as I was from rural background. But I got the chance to fly at the age of 20 years.I want to join Banking Industry, I got opportunity and I joined the Bank. This all only by my own efforts. But, after marriage, I have dreams to give very good education and I want to bring up my children to higher place but, they were not capable of to full fill my dreams due to their health condition. So, in this my dreams failed.

Well I have aspergers,Adhd andsome lung problems but I was able to have a high paying job despite of my condition but I do hate my job, Its not something I dreamed of. Flying on a plane is an attainable dream I think but being a pilot is only attainable with people who can afford it and who are good in math.,

Hi CaptAlbertWhisker, I became a nurse, but that wasn't what my original desire was to be. I wanted to be a veterinarian, but I did not come from a rich family.. nor was I the best student growing up. I went to nursing school and excelled. If I could go back and do a redo, I would go into medicine. I wouldn't any longer long to become a vet, but I would love to be a physician... but now I am too old. I'm 61, so I'm too old to do anything like that. I wish I could get a redo, and maybe work my way through college and med school... but that is just wishful thinking.

I noticed a lot of nurses dont really wanted to be a nurse but because of the opportunities, and benifits many people became nurses but I do know some nurses who really have nursing as their passion. In a way a being a Nurse is somewhat close to being a Physician since they belong in the same industry Kind of reminds me of those people who wanted to be models but they end up as photographers,Itsnot the exact dream they wanted but still the same industry.

When I was a child I always wanted to be a professional Ice skater. However I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in the 90's so that blew my dreams right out the window. On the other hand everyday is a dream come true when I wake up and can walk. It may not be a straight line but at least like a Skater I am on my feet.

That is quite a inspiring response. So many of us take our health for granted and don't realize the challenges many have. I wanted to be a cop until a couple of them beat me up.

I don't want to be somebody else. I just want to be myself. I never thought I would want to be just somebody else. It was my deep desire to be successful within my life. I thought that someday I would get rich, so I devoted my richness to my mother. In my opinion, she's too tired. She's a tough mother. I remembered she went up and down busy doing her house chores, and she never woke up late to prepare what her children wants. She entered me into a university and I though I haven't inadequate success so to achieve my desires and dream. I always try to think that I could and never lose hope that it is not the time yet. I hope if someday I am a rich man. My mother is my top priority for my life. Thank You.

You are still in the process of living your dream, for sure perseverance and persistence were essential to get the goal we wanted in our life. Many people just give up because of survival. You know I'm a very ambitious person but due to survival, I got stuck in a job that I hate. I wanted to be a star not some person bored inside an office cubicle. I'm saving some money and I hope that money is enough for my survival forthe next few years, I want to quit my job and pursue my passion.

As a small girl I had dreamed that one day when I grow up, I would go the best university to be a learned person, I would be so smart to do everything well, and my life would be full of joy and my parents would be pride of me and I can help them to deal with the awful things... Now I have grown up, and I become so ordinary that sometimes I dare not look back on my dreams. I think there is no excuse except that I have not really devote myself to what I should do so.

I was determined to become a doctor. Now I understand why that could never happen. But, I have to admit, having that much ambition and determination carried me very far and helped me to survive an extremely difficult part of my life.

Well teachers have very low salary andyou have to dealwith brattykids or teens 10 hours a day, I guess its a blessing in disguise, well you can still be a teacher, a university professor for computer engineering students. Professors are the highest paid teachers.

so you want to lead a Folk pop band, do you have siblings that plays instruments?(the corrs is composed of siblings,if my memory serves me right) I think 80% of nurses dont really want to be nurses, they didnt like the job from the start but they learned to embrace it.
