I have discovered a very peaceful place. A small city with gentle people living in a simple and satisfied life. A very small city yet equipped with interesting history, with students from all over the world. it was s place where mot people could stay after retirement and enjoy living peacefully and stress free. I have discovered such place. I have discovered DUMAGUETE CITY. Have you been there?

Welcome to Mylot Purpledino! My friends booked me in another flight with them to Dumaguete City.. Can you tell me what else does Dumaguete has to offer aside from the peace & quiet? Are there any beaches there? What are the neat places to go there? What food do you recommend us to eat there? What are their products?

hELLO graceekwenx!! Thanks for responding.it is really a very small city where motorcycles are everywhere or you can just have a tour walking around. the first sight you would notice is the boulevard. You can have you exercise while enjoying the sunrise at the beach. as the sun retreats, the place shifts into a more exciting mood where resto bars fill the air with music. You can also find yourself surrounded by huge acacia trees that provide shade to the whole campus of SILLIMAN UNIVERSITY. Take some time and have a tour in the historical school as well. the twin lake is also an exciting destination for tourists. The LAKE BALINSASAYAW is a well preserved area located just outside the city proper. You could also go dolphin watching at BAIS CITY and enjoy the white beach at SAND BAR. If you like going underwater, there's a place called APO ISLAND where you could go diving and enjoy the marine life sanctuary. These place are so famous so you could just ask around. I also found the best pastry shop in Dumaguete. The Sans Rival. they offer different kinds of cakes. most people buy their famous silvanas and sans rival for "pasalubong". CITY BURGER's chicken is also one of my favorites. they have the best chicken sauce ever! if you like a little bit of adventure, you can also try the most famous, BOSSING's tempura inside Silliman campus where you can find the craziest, spiciest, hottest tempura sauce you can find. Even guys get teary eyed eating them.haha! You could also try HAYAHAY's gourmet pizza while enjoying the resto's reggae music and the cool sea breeze. I could say a lot more about the place, but it is more alive during August when the school celebrates its founders' days. Moreover, people there are friendly and you could see lots of college students, teenagers and foreigners. After all, it is the city of gentle people. Enjoy your vacation!

That's one of the places in my trips in next year. I have read a lot of the place nad have been seeing beautiful places like the Mt. Apo island, the Manguyod sandbar. I also wanted to visit the famous Siliman University. When do you think is the best time to go to that place? Is there any particular place to stay would you recommend? Thank you for sharing your experience in that place.

I hope to go island hopping and snorkeling in the Philippines sometime in the future. I haven't yet been there but it is one of the countries on my travel wish list. I like the sound of Dumagutete City because it seems to be peaceful and interesting. I enjoy walking along picturesque streets, seeing attractive views and taking photos. I am pleased that you have discovered such a lovely destination.

I have not been to the city you mentioned. Sounds very interesting and attractive. In fact, this is the first time I have heard about the city. I have been to the Philippine once, just to Manila. I did not have the chance to visit other cities. Yes, I do know there are many peaceful and beautiful places in the country. Thank you for the information.

I have been to Dumaguete a coupe of times. I live in Cebu and Dumaguete is just a few hours travel by land trip and boat and less than an hour by plane. Dumaguete is indeed a nice place. I have traveled to different places in our country, it is only in Dumaguete that I see a lot of foreigners. Of course, there are a lot of tourist attractions in our country where foreigners visit, but in Dumaguete, they are not there as a tourist but rather they reside in Dumaguete. From my own understanding, it's probably because the place is peaceful, and as you have said, a great place for retirement and stress free. I am looking forward to my next visit this month in Dumaguete. I'm sure that it will be another great experience.
