I am fond of watching series that shows baking and business related to it.. anyways i was watching DC cupcakes and these two sisters are inspiring, they like make a living out of something they are passionate about. Hubby said what business do i like and i told him that kind.. i wonder if i can really do something like that..but maybe i need to practice more right? like i am fond of baking but i do not bake that much lately..but the idea i love it, i am into creating stuff and food.. how i wish i can so i downloaded some recipes today and planning on putting it into action this weekend. I am hoping hubby will be supportive and i can get it on... there is no such business here in my city that.. crossing my fingers.

Go for it if you can, but just know...you have to spend money to make money and things arent cheap these days. I saw I think it was Chef Ramsey redoing a failing resturant...he scaled down the menu to just a couple "best" dishes instead of hte huge choices the owners had...and none of them very good. But he toned it down to half a dozen dishes and then had them practice and then served just those half dozen and the resturant came back...and they eventually added another half dozen and there they are. but your niche of no other resturant like yours is good...just make sure it is something that everyone in town will want! Good luck!

You definately have my best wishes for good luck! I hope you can make something out of it! But I watch these cupcake war shows...and they put so much stuff, ingredients etc into their cupcakes I am like....okay...wheres the cupcake? It is like there are so many different flavors in the cupcake...you miss the fun of eating a cupcake! And also...a thing I have...just cause you can get more for them, doesn't mean you need tdo charge more. Quantity. It's better to sell 10 at $3 each than 5 at $5 each...cause if only 3...people will tend to not only buy more, but buy more MORE OFTEN and bring friends!

DC Cupcakes is indeed a fun show to watch. I agree that in order to start a successful business, you have to be passionate about it. If you are passionate about baking, then go for it. Be warned though, just like fashion business, it has its own trends that you have to keep up it. For example, cupcakes are hot nowadays, it may be not in the next couple of months, so be prepared. Practice, practice and practice, invent a new recipe or even a new kind of cake to make you stand out from the crowd. It's tough, but if you're into it, I believe you can do it. Good luck!

Just what i've been thinking, its a trend now but it might not a few months from now..so it is pretty risky to dive into.

Hi Jaz!! First of all, I'd like to ask if you're all safe there. We get not so good news here about your place. I hope (judging by the fact that you're here at ML having fun) you're okay. Wow, that is really cool. It's good to make your hobby into a business. Who knows, it could be the next best thing! I hope you would be able to make this dream come true. There are lots of good stuff online, so check them out. Oh, and I'd like to share a link. The baker is from Cebu and her creations. Check them out! http://creolecakes.multiply.com/photos/album/27/CupcakeCraze (Not a referral link)

Thank you for that link glory, i will check it out. Well, things are mellowing out, honestly since the start of November things are quiet, i do not know if it has ended or if peace talks are starting or they are just resting ( MILF and military side) but there is no news of any violence..no bombs - thank God, no tensions.. no news at all which is a bit scary because we never really know when it will strike again..but i guess peace talks are starting and hopefully it will end.. but i am fine and mylotting

Goodluck. I think you could market your cupcake business to school cafeteria or to mothers of classmates of your children. It is best to have a regular customers and kids would love cupcakes very much. I'm sure your husband will support you with such a good project.

Good luck with it. Make sure you get the necessary documents, and inspections before you sell anything out of your home. Since there's no other business like it nnear you, you should do well. Cupcakes are popular now.

first you will want to do a lot of research to see where the nearest one cupcake place is, what they charge and what they sell, then you need to do research on building a small business and all those details. best of luck!

jazel_juan, You may want to start small and private to see how people are responding to your cakes or confectioneries. For a start, try bringing samples to your church or bible study group or work to see the response and spread the word that you would be interested in taking orders for special occasions like weddings, birthdays, anniversaries or festivals. In one sense, you can pace yourself as you go about getting invaluable feedback to your recipes and most of all, determine your potential market without a heavy outlay like a shop space and undue obligation pressures of a business. It can also help you establish a niche and most of all, a market for your bakes. Whatever it is, I'd like to wish you all the best in your endeavors.

hi jazel__juan that would be fun for you if you like to bake and create. I saw a progran on television sponsored by Marha Stewart where she visted these two sisters who had a thriving cupcake business and made all sorts of flavors and decorated in custom ways. they had built up a ton of customers and had a small shop now and had hired help so they were really doing great ]too.some of their customres came from businesses around them where the people would order special cupcakes for their whole crew and for honoring peoples birthdays and going away parties too.It was really fascinating and I enjoyed watching it though I am no baker nor would I want to make that business myself.

If there is no such business in your town, you will be the first one to start it. Why not try to take a dive for it, whether succeed or fail, you did your best effort, and something you like to do in life. I wish all the best luck to you, and you start your cupcake or baking business.

Go for it. Start with just baking a few and give samples to your neighbors. Feasibility study is the most important thing in every business. You can start small with just a little capital before going all the way. You can even sell it online and just make it when there's an order. If you enjoy something and earn at the same time, you will have more fulfillment.

oh yeah i thought of that, make it just when there is an order, but i need to make more for practice and for family so they could have a taste

You could put up a business from it, since all successful businessman are those passionate on what they are doing, so you could also become successful from it. You could also practice baking to build or experiment in making different cupcakes and build your own taste and after sometime you could sell it and if people love it thats the time you could put the business and explore more about baking. Good Luck. =) I would also love to learn baking and cook some dishes.
