Do you believe in purgatory?

Hi guys! They say that the purgatory is place or condition where the dead ones are temporarily punished because they have not repented well during their living days.Their living loved ones can pray fro their soul to help them be saved from eternal punishment. But the question is ,is purgatory true or just man made to comfort those people or the person's family that even if their dead loved ones were not able to repent from their sins can still be saved from going to hell?For me, I will stick to what the bible says and the bible says in Heb 9;27 "It is appointed that man has to die once and then face judgement" So where do we put the purgatory here if we are judge right after we die? Can we still be save even if we are already dead? I guess that is why God gave us life for us to prove ourselves to Him and to live a life that is pleasing to God.We have one life to live let us not waste it. There is no purgatory. You will either go to heaven or hell base on your deeds here on earth.So what do you think?

Off-topic: when I hear the word purgatory, the first thing that comes to mi mind are the latest episodes of SUpernatural.
on-topic: No, I don't believe there is a purgatory. Heaven and Hell... I get that, but the very idea of purgatory is too much for me

Well, I have to agree with others her, in that there is no purgatory. Indeed it is not in the scriptures.
I’d like to make a few points about some of the things posted here:
First of all, God does not “cast one into hell” and yes, He is a loving God. Hell “is” for the devil and his evil angels, so no wonder that mankind would be out of place there, but none-the-less sending himself (herself) there, by refusing to invite Jesus to be their savior and doing the best to live as the Lord would have us to.
Choosing to not believe in God/heaven/hell does not make them not exist, and it is our CHOICES about Jesus and what we believe, that place us where we end up at the judgement.
Paul said that the human mind/reasoning is rebellious by nature against God, and we therefore can’t come to a true belief, just because we set
up “our own tailor made beliefs.” Well you can because you have the freedom of choice, but if that choice is not based on what Jesus taught, it does nothing for you, except be available for argumentative purposes.
We are ‘not’ all Children of God, but ‘creations’ of God. The only way to become a child of God is through the born again experience, as we turn to God through Jesus and repent (which means to change one’s way of thinking and believing), and go a “new” direction.
There are many church teachings that are full of errors and even lies, to be used to keep their congregations in line or else. I exited that part of life years ago, found Christ as my Savior, and am very happy and content in a non-denominational church.

Hi! YEs indeed hell was not created for humans but we were given the free will to choose our actions and these are judge by God. I am happy that we are saved through God's grace and salvation. I hope we will continue to grow in number and be able to spread the good news. Make wise choices and let God guide you everyday.REad the bible and you will not be blinded by this wrong doctrines and teaching. There is hope for every man and Jesus is our only hope. God bless.!

I don't believe any purgatory,and that is a beleif or man made doctrine of Cathlic...
There is no mention in the Bible about purgatory,but only Hell,and Heaven..
Whosoever believe in Him,should not perish but have Everlasting life..God will give eternal life to those who truly believes and accept Jesus ...John3:16:John1:12..

Yes true,Jesus is the key to Heaven and that is the only said in the Bible that Jesus is the only way to believe and no one else..

I agree with you.. i don't believe in purgatory too.. All i know is there's heaven and hell... if we don't want to go to hell we must be very careful on how we live... because the days are evil... then make our self pleasing to God... after we die judgment will fall among us.. this will determined if we will really be in heaven or hell... But to believe in Jesus will saved us from that condemnation... Jesus is the only way.. Jesus says in John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me." this is very clear that the only thing we must do is to believe and follow Jesus... for because of HIM we're saved.... No purgatory for Jesus has already conquer the grave.... God bless..

I believe in purgatory though, since God is forgiving and he gives chances. So maybe there is a place where those who aren't very good or just a little bad are placed t repent fr their sins.. Maybe I will be placed there too.

Yes I do believe you. I guess if we die we will directly go to heaven or hell. God give us a lot of chances to straighten up our path while we are still here so that we will not get burn in hell when we die. A lot of us tend to ignore it. God is a forgiving God. But I guess we will not learn our lesson if God will never discipline and punish us. So if we want to enjoy life in heaven, we better make things right before everything will be over.

I'm not Catholic, so I don't believe in Purgatory. I believe in heaven and hell, but nothing in between... doesn't mean I'm right.. it's just what I believe according to the bible and church teachings.
