As the bus moved through the crowded road with multi layers of people, all busy and a few slow, my mind took a detour through my not so rosy past. I realized that I have been immensely lucky in life to have whatever I have today. My goals are not really fulfilled and I have not been able to achieve what I had wanted to. But all said and done, I am content today. So, how happy, how content are you at this point in life? Pls share your thoughts. Have a great day! Cheers!

I do not know what constitutes happiness in life but I personally feel that I am happier in life than any other person in the world.

I am happy with most things in life. There are a few things I still work at to improve. But, all and all I too am happy where I am at in my life. Your life it what you make of it. You can choose to be miserable or you can choose to be happy with what life has offered you. Have a nice day.

You know what previously, I used to be upset with the improprieties happening around. Now, I have learned to accept things. Now, I know some things in life, however bad, you cannot change etc. I am much happier since. Thanks Mary for inspiring me.

So true Mim, we can choose to be happy or not. It really is in our hands. Even if we are going through difficult times. One can be unhappy or just try and live with situations, economy, etc. Hope you are doing well. Hugs

I have to say that I had better times in my life. The happiest time for me it was my childhood, I have great memories from that time. Nowadays, I can say that I have happy moments, but most of the time, I live my routine in college and in the hospital. This routine can be pretty boring sometimes. But, I do that, because I know that in the future, I will be able to do what I want and finally have a happier life.

That's important as well. Happiness to me is also having my loved ones happy. Which means doing everything that takes to make them happy. We might sometimes not like the endeavor, the journey but the fruit will be very sweet indeed.

After reading your discussion, I sort of wandered into an evaluation. I can say a lot on this, but would keep my response short and concise. Fortunate-yes, Content:- not really. Happy:-No. I’ve never really found myself always happy. It’s those moments of happiness, short or long that I crave for which leaves me discontent. But having said this, I truly feel this is an ongoing thing. The happy moments in life makes it all worth it. May you always be happy

I know you are happier than what the response says. 'Happiness is not a destination - it's a journey.' I know you can do better than that. It's just that it's not a great day today. Smile now.

Today I went to an exercise class with music from all different cultures. I enjoyed dancing to the music in the way the instructor showed. I go to it every Friday morning and find it excellent exercise and very enjoyable indeed. I have written a list of goals which are about improving my bungalow. I wish to get my hall and kitchen painted, get 5 double glazed windows and have some paintwork done outside. I am happy planning my trip overseas in March next year. I have a toothache which is bothering me. I have got a cold which I caught from my daughter. I feel fairly happy and will feel even happier at the end of this month when my bungalow looks really lovely. Good luck with achieving your dreams and goals.

You make me more happy maximax. Your dreams and goals are beautiful and will sure be fulfilled soon. I, too, have been planning to renovate our old sitting room. Just started to work towards it. The carpenter has fixed a cabinet today. It's looking good. By the end of November, probably, I will have an improved sitting room. More will follow after that. Work to make your dream happen, be the traveler that you are and dance your way to happiness. All the best.

I haven't done every single thing I set out too, but most of my dreams have come true, and I've some years left, after all. I am very content. Life is good! I wish it were so for everyone. In many cases, though, there are people dissatisfied even though they really have more things than me and beyond material things more opportunities, so as you know contentment is a state of mind.

"Contentment" ! That is the keyword for me. Yes, of course, I have many ideals and goals in my life, on the personal side and the career side. I try my best to reach them. Some succeeded, some failed. That is the way of life. Yet, I stay contented. And, that gives me the happiness !

I agree. Being content is being happy. And this is irrespective of anything in life. Some people are generally happy even without what it takes and some are not-so even with everything. Thanks.

As on today I will not say that I am happy at all. Am having a lot of problems in my personal life. No job satisfaction at all just now. Have been in tears for the last two weeks. Feel my life is in a total mess now.

Patsie, one thing good about being a survivor is that you never fear to lose anything anymore. I have been one in my own way. It may not always be a house, money, comfort. There are sadder things like emotional hypocrisy, fakes and lies. Let's not be cynical. All I want to say is that you are lovely with all those bitter things in life and have been an inspiration to many like me. Love you dearie.

I do think that I am generally happy with my life. I may not always be happy or content with the way that it's going, or with things that are going on, but generally speaking, I would still say that I am happy.

It seems that you are a happy person. Our outlook, our perspective with which we deal with situations, face the hurdles and share our happy moments make us beautiful and happy. It's nice to meet you here.

yes mimpi, like you I am very content with my life as it is now. This year 2011 which is comeing to an end rapidly now had a hugs change in circumstances in store for me, a good change, I should add. It meant that for the first time in these almost 50 years I have spent on this planet so far and 45 of these I have memories from, I can say Life is beautiful and Life is a Gift. I have the most precious gift of all now, the inner freedom to be myself without fearing constant mockery and criticism for just being ME.

Everyday is a gift ; that is why it is called 'present'.I am content in life at this point of time; I do have some peculiar misgivings at times, but I thank GOd that I am happy and fortunate and whip myself for any untoward thoughts. I was down with ill health but now I am better and am thankful that I enjoy decent overall health.I have a sweet little grandson at home and the way he dimples and smiles just make my day.I am happy as long as my loved ones are happy and are in good health.

Hi Mimpi! I could not touch this discussion earlier as my net is down for the past few days and now am trying to submit my response through my mobile handset. You see as regards feeling happy and contended, it is simply our state of mind. Our mind tells us that we are happy or otherwise. Our chain of positive thoughts makes us feel joyous that we are feeling happy or not. It is nice to hear that you feel contended and happy with your present life. It is good to know that you feel better now than your past life. I know feeling of contentment makes you feel more satisfied and it prompts you to do better in day to day life. We just need to condition our mind that we are feeling happy. Thereafter waves of happiness will flow in our entire body. I feel blessed in my life. The great God has showered His endless blessings upon me that I feel very contended in my life. Whatever I tried in my life, most of the times I succeeded with His blessings. I have a happy family, good circles of relatives and friends and I do enjoy every moment of my life, which comes my way. I have a secured job, which makes me feel stronger inside. I believe 'Tomorrow never comes', therefore I keep enjoying my present to its fullest. Have a great day.

Hi Mimpi, I am happy, because I choose to be happy. Happiness is a state of mind. It's a decision a person has to make specially during the most trying times. While things don't always come my way as I want them to, I always prefer to look at the brighter side of it. When I feel really down, I make a conscious effort not do dwell on it. This way I don't feel discouraged but instead get more motivated to do better. I accept things the way they are, difficult as they may seem, and just wish that they would finally fall into proper places.

In many ways I would say that I'm content with my life and where it is today, but there are some things about my life that I'm not really settled with. For example, I feel like I'm in constant emotional turmoil because of being the spouse of a person that has cancer. I also feel like I could achieve more in my life but some of the things that have happened have drawn me back. Overall though, I love my family and I do love the things that I've been able to achieve in my life so far.
