Asking for the time

As you know I like watches and always wear one. It often happens, that people ask me for the time. I find that confusing. Many people tell watches are useless and they use the cell phone. So why they still ask? I sometimes reply with "Time to get a watch!" So if you wear a watch, do you like to always tell the time. If not, why you ask people - or you just check your cellphone?

I have not experienced anybody coming up to me asking about "What's the time now". I know it's irritating especially when we have more than one of such request throughout the whole day. I mean we are wearing watches to remind ourselves about punctuality, but not to act as a time reporter to all sorts of strangers. If i have such request from people, i would surely ignore them. Yes, i'm that cold to people coming up with nonsense.

You should reply "Time to wear a watch"

I bet the reason why some people don't check their phone is because they're too lazy to grab it. My friend asked me what time it was today when her cell phone was almost right in front of her. I always use my phone to check the time, but when I was younger I used to ask around sometimes. I'm pretty sure this was before I had a reliable cell phone.

hi, you are right. They are just lazy. I don't like to wear watches but now i do because my husband bought a watch that doesn't fit him. Luckily it's for unisex and it's yellow, it's based on LES light so it's pretty bright at night. What i like most is it look, it's 2 in 1. It's a watch and a bracelet too.

Like you I too always wear watches, i have so many of them, some are analog type that needs winding daily, some are battery operated, some are digital, my favorite one is a watch given by my late father in 1962 when i passed high school examination. Thanks for sharing Best of luck. Professor

Hi, I am a stickler for time, I like tracking it every hour of my waking time. I don't know but I've been like this ever since I was young. My fascination with watches started when I saw one on the drawer of my parents and started to fiddle with it. Now, my watch wearing habit has not worn off, more so for my work especially underwater as a SCUBA diver. I have to have one that can tell accurate time yet can withstand the rigors of being in the water for long stretches. In the office, it is the same dive watch I wear and since it is quite accurate, I stick to it as my all-around time regulator.

I sometimes wear watch but till date no one has asked me for time. Except my family when I'm in the house haha I just tell them to stop being lazy and look at their mobiles or whatever.

I do both. My phone is always in my side pocket but I still wear a watch. It's not the fact that I'm lazy, but I just like it that way. Maybe it's the fact that I have a really nice-looking watch!! :) People nowadays are so lazy they find it tiring to even reach into the pocket and extricate their phones. Because I wear a watch, people I pass by on the road even ask me the time! It's funny really, but once some guy was walking typing something on his blackberry in one hand and then, he called me and asked me the time. I told him the time and then pointed at his phone and laughed my head off. And, he was pretty embarassed too! xD

I always wear a watch, even in the shower. I don't turn my cell phone on, and wouldn't think to check it for the time anyway. I have a cordless phone that displays the time, and sometimes I check it but usually it is the watch.

I have asked what the time for a few times especially if my phone is somewhere inside my bag and maybe Iam walking or in hurry. I don't also have any problem if someone asked me what the time.
