Should we really be thankful to God for everything we have?Is he really the one who gave us all of our things? If he is the one who gives those material things why do the non believers recieve? I know believers will say that God is good even to non believers so he still gives. How come he became good?He has once killed almost all human through the flood. He kills those who sin to Him.It is seen throughout the bible. I know God does not exist, and we have everything we have now because of our own effort.God has no effect to our future or what we have.We will still have things even if we don't believe in him.I have my home and my phone and money although I don't believe in him. I guess we shouldn't thank him for everything we have because we have what we have now because of our own efforts. Tell me.Should we really thank him? www.godisimaginary.com Visit this site if you want to learn. Please respect my belief.Thanks.:)

God is imaginary, I agree. I also have achieved a lot and never asked or thanked a higher power for it. And though I am a non-believer I do abide the state and moral laws in general. But on the other hand I think religion and god are necessary in this world. Because most people don't think like some of us here and god is like an invisible, omnipresent and undoubted state leader. If you believe it means you feel like you are helped and also watched by him and you try to abide the moral laws. I think if religion didn't exist we would have a hundred times more immoral people in this world.

jyuken There are more reasons to believe that god does not exist. There are many Gods that people created. There is baal, zeus, poseidon, and many more. What's the difference of your God to the other imaginary gods mentioned above? They are all just the same. Sorry.I am just reasoning.I hope you understand.

I don't blame god because I know he does not exist.sorry again. I will never say sorry to him because I never did something bad to Him because there is no actually Him. I am really sorry for being harsh right now.I am just explaining.

Jyuuken, What makes your god different from those ancient gods that are already proven to not exist?I wanna know. don't tell me he is different because he answers prayers. The ancient people of aztec offers human to their God because they believe that god helps them during wars.People who praise false god also believes that their prayers are answered. What makes your god different? What makes him so special that you think he is not just like zeus, pluto, venus, poseidon, baal, and many other gods that are already proven to be false? Don't get me wrong.I am just asking a question.Thanks.

If God created the universe, then who created god? Don't tell me that god just came out of nowhere? If you can accept that god came out of nowhere, why cannot you accept that the universe existed because of the imbalance of matter and anti matter? Big bang is easily more acceptable than the God-created-the-universe theory. Sorry.I am just sharing my views about it.

You are right sketch! Why did he have to include innocent children to his maliciousness if he is an all-knowing god. I know the bible is just created by ancient people to promote slavery.Notice that the bible is filled of slavery and sexism. If there is God then the prayers of those holy people to make this world better must have made the world better. But the world is so horrible now. visit www.godisimaginary.com I discovered that site. It's awesome.:)

It just narrated slavery because it really existed before?oh.It means there is really slavery because God didn't do anything to stop it. It can be because of the following. -There is no God. -God is malicious so it is just ok for him to see other people be hit by the rod by their masters.I won't love to praise a malicious God. -He does not really care about us.

You are right. We should thank ourselves and our allies who have helped us. We should not waste our life giving credit to a being that, if real, according to the Bible, has killed so many people and has ignored the evils of the world, which he created, and is very quick to punish us for falling victim to, even though he knows what we will do before we will do it. If God does exist, which I very highly doubt, he is a jerk who displays every single one of the seven deadly sins he is so against. I would never worship a guy like that, or anyone at all. I am worth a lot. I am not a lesser being. My life is also worth a lot. I will not cheapen by using it only as a means to an end, which I can't even prove is there.

Of course he is trying hard to get our praise. He is a prideful and jealous God who will send you to torture for all eternity just for not praising him.

If he is a real GOD and knows everything he must have known that people will be sinful even before he created them so he would have done other things to fix that problem. If he knew that we would be sinful and would be just punished from the very beginning, why did he still create us?Did he create us to be his toys or to suffer? I will never believe in him,and if he exists he does not deserve my praise. He is more brutal than hitler.:)

Hi Ferb! First of all, I respect your belief. As for me, I believe in a God even though he is unseen. I thank Him everytime i wake up as i believe that He is giving me a chance to be a better person. I thank Him for giving me very supportive family and friends. Everything I have and see all came from Him. I believe i am nothing without Him.

The last time I believed that I was nothing without someone, without their love, and who would threaten me if I did not show them the kind of love they wanted and obeyed their every wim, was the first and last time I was in an abusive relationship. Then I learned that that person was very selfish and didn't care about me at all. I learned that I am great all on my own; don't need anyone to be worth something; and I learned to love myself. ferbjohn69 may respect the Christian belief, but I have a hard time respecting a victim's defense of their abuser. If God were real, I still could not love him, for no good guy would want you to worship him. Perhaps my atheism doesn't offer answers to such questions as to where we go when we die and what I should do, but it allows me the freedom for questions, which I have found much more helpful in getting closer to truth.

For me, I will always thank the Lord everyday no matter what happens. We believe Him because of our FAITH. But I would not argue with you if you don't believe in the existence of God. I respect your belief. If I have to argue with you, it will only give me stress. Although I'm poor materially, I have a lot of true friends who care for me and I believe that they are God's instruments. They accept me as I am and that's already a great blessing for me. For us Christians also, it is only God that satisfies our spiritual thirst and I experience that until this time. The happiness that I'm encountering now could not be explain. I also experienced during the past that material things were not able to satisfy that deep longing for something. ... I'd like to ask you these questions:Are you satisfied with your life or are you really very happy with your life now despite the material things that you own? Is there a deep longing, desire inside you that you really do not know what it is? You think and you reflect.

If there is no God then every good thing that we do in this world has no meaning at all. What is life after all if there is no hope in the future, if there is no God? If there is no God then who created us, who created the universe? To those who believe in Evolution and other theories how the world began, who is the source of this? These theories will not exist, if there is no source to all of these. For the believers of God, we believe that there is a supreme being who created this world including human beings. That is our belief, this is our faith.

I am not being biased.I am not telling bad things about god because I don't know him.I became an atheist because I know him more.I once loved to listen to my pastor when he preaches. Actuatlly I was a former christian.I wasn't just a christian.I was a very active christian.I always go to church every sunday, and I never missed any sunday.I used to pray.I used to praise him.But everything changed when I read the bible no my own, without the influence of the pastor.I noticed many inconcistencies and verses that promote inhumanity so I changed my mind. That's my story.

I do respect people and I think I like mylot so much because we can discuss anything in this way. So, I respect your decision to state that God does not exist and therefore you need not be thankful to God. I understand, so my next comment is not one of criticism but reason. I mean this sincerely and hope you believe me. To thank God is not a question for you; this is evident because I think you have made up your mind that God does not exist and will never change that view. My question back is why? I think your reasoning is based on atheism. Though we may not agree with each other I do respect your decisions and hope you will always respect mine. I believe atheism is a church less religion but a religion (false) just the same. I see atheism as a real identity and it does have a following. It’s message is (do not believe in God) and it does attempt to convince others to follow its reasoning and accept it as true. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AsQ0xuwUx8TPClWSlfvpn5vsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20111102142542AAx88r1

You misunderstood what I meant I think. I am not trying to convert you. I know you have already made up your mind and respect that decision. As for me in case you are wondering, I have and continue to read the bible and I’ve made up my mind and love and trust God with all my heart. I will happily be a slave of Jesus, as he is not harsh. My question of why, I think I was not being clear on that. I see now it was in the sentence structure on my part, my mistake. It should have came at the end of the paragraph. I meant to ask this instead.. Why do you put your trust in atheism?

Reasoning is good. That is how I came to the conclusion that atheism is a religion. Just as believers of God go about to tell others what they believe is truth, so do non-believers. It is atheism's mandate to try to convince other people that God does not exist and that qualifies it. It is simply logical. Though it is church less, can still be identified even though many atheists will argue that is not a religion. You believe in something as stated in the op. I am not trying to be harsh but anything that tries to convince others what is true or not true concerning religious subjects is just that a religion. Therefore, this topic and the web site that is linked re demonstrative of delivering information for the purpose of changing or informing the minds of others about a non believe of God. Other religions do this as well. I am not saying anything negative here other than to say it would we totally wrong to lie about atheism as not being a religion. The point of my question, "why put your trust in atheism" was the only interest to me because I am firm on my commitments and beliefs (just as you are about yours)and have no need to debate them. The point of asking the question was to reason in my mind if someone like yourself understands what they are doing and regardless of who you are, everyone has beliefs of some nature and by ascribing to atheism a person is setting themselves up to put trust in it just as they would to anything else. I would never follow the reasoning of atheism because they are false ones and then acts as a religion to gather followers to it . That is my belief, you can take the time to consider more about atheism than the beliefs of others if you like but again this is your choice. In any case I do wish you well ferbjohn69 in your reasonings.

No,I didn't misunderstand what you said.I am just telling you the reason why I cannot believe in him. You cannot blame me if I cannot believe the unbelievable and illogical. I wish your god,if he exists, won't put a man forever to hell by just not believing the unbelievable. If he really loves everyone,he should show me a proof of his existence. I know he cannot proof his existence because if is just a fairytale. If is not different to Poseidon, zeus, venus, pluto, baal, santa. What makes the difference? There will be no God if no one believes.Ancient people created him to explain things they couldn't explain. I am sorry.I am just reasoning.

As with many people, I find myself thanking God only when I get out of sticky situations, or when things I expected to go out badly turned out to be all right. But I also do recognize the fact that I got out of the problem because I also did a lot of things and worked hard. I was religious for many years in my life and have joined various Churches and did all that bible studying and preaching house to house. Then with more knowledge, more reallizations came. I still believe God exists. I still believe he will fulfill His promises. But I am not one of those who anticipate those promises anymore. Should we thank Him? That all depends on one's beliefs and faith. Normally I don't.

Personally, I think that no we shouldn't. Some invisible being way far away gave us something good, but it's always something/someone else's fault when something bad happens. The bad things mean you aren't being good enough for some reason. To me, that's a load of bull. I've never understood how it can be god's goodness when things go right, meaning exactly as we want them to, but when things don't go right, meaning how we don't want them to, it's the fault of the devil or outside forces. If god is all knowing and controlling, wouldn't he have us do things that we don't want to? Wouldn't he give us those challenges as well as the good things. Shouldn't we be thanking him for the challenges as well as the blessings? And why are the blessings and challenges so self determined. I could look at someone's life and say "that's awesome" and the person living it would say "this really sucks".

Yes,when things go right they thank god.But when things go wrong they blame the devil or any other things they can blame. They are always trying to make that God look good to them. I cannot believe a god who wants to be praised all the time.

Besides of the fact I don't believe in god I don't see why we should thank him for everything we have or achieved. What I have or achieved is my own work. I worked hard for that, I payed prices for that and it was me who made my dream come true. I did not pray and sit down on my a.. and waited for help being too lazy to work for it myself. And if i should thank god for that, can I blame him for everthing bad happend to me in my life as well? Since it doesn't make sense at all that I need to thank someone who doesn't exist for what I gathered by working hard but can't blame him for all the bad things done to me. If you do the thanking you can do the blaming as well!

You don't need to blame god because there is no god. When things go wrong you don't blame god,but when things go right you thank god.So you mean god only do good things? I am so sorry.I am just stating my belief and reasons.

Of course you should thank God for everything you've achieved because man can do nothing without God. God is the sole creator of our universe and he provides his guidelines in order to provide blessings for you! Your abiding to his guideline yields rewards and blessings for you, in your case the achievements! God makes it possible for you to attempt and succeed and without him, you will undoubted fail miserably! *My views, don't flame me!*

Did you ever try not thanking god? See what happens.. I have. Strangely I got even more out of life. I'm not saying it's a good thing. I'm not even saying that he doesn't exist, not saying he does either. But even if he did, does he really need our thanking? Does he really love us with or without that thanking? I mean, for example.. I love someone.. my better half, and for me that means I will always give and do everyhting I can for him to be happy and I will never require not even a thanks nor will it make me feel better or worse if he does it or not. If I don't thank anyone for what I have but respect the people around me, if I don't pray to god but I understand people around me, talk to them and help others, if I don't believe in the existance of god but I guide myself by moral laws does that make me someone who should be less loved by god or by other religious people just because I call myself an atheist. Some believers kill and then repent or are lazy and grumpy but go to church daily.. what is the real sin in the end? and what makes us better in the eye of something bigger than us? if something bigger exists is it really that focused on believing? if god loves us all why does he require that? I don't have children yet but I can imagine it and I see it around me.. If I had 2 children, one that forgets about me but goes out there and does good and builds a nice life for himself and others around, and one that stays home with me and covers me in love and says "thank you" and "i'm sorry" all the time I wouldn't love any of them more or less.. on the contrary. I would appreciate the one that left for his abilities and for what he is doing.. but maybe it's just me.

I would never deny you the right to believe the way you do. It is not the way of God. However, I would like to say something since I believe that somehow you have been led to believe in a false teaching. God created everything. The very talents that you use to gain the things that you have were given to you. You did nothing of yourself to gain those talents. The every elements that this world are made of were created by God. This woeld was created as a proving ground that will allow us to go through trials tht allow us to return to that God that made us if we obey His commandments. Just for the very reason that if we mess up, Jesus came to earth to die for our sins that we could still return to Father In Heaven and have the opportunity to progress to become like God. That is a short synopsis of the beliefs I have and you can believe as you will. I would just ask that you ponder on the things that I have said.

It is very important to thank for each thing which he had done. The success in life comes because of the works of the god who is above us. So it is very important to thank him, who give all the success to you.

Ganesha - Historical image of Ganesha.
Your website suffers from the same failing as most other militant western atheists sites and pronouncements. It is an elegant but weak attack on the Abrahamic concept of a god but ignores all of the other gods and goddess that proliferate in the mind of the human species. I see nothing in it that proves or disproves the existence of my favorite god, Ganesha. Your atheism is not true atheism. It is only an unreasioned attack on the Abrahamic concept of a god and ignores the beliefs of the majority of the human species who live happily beyond the restrictive influence of the despotic god of the Bible.

I would agree with you that God isn't responsible for everything that we have in life, but to go as far as saying that God isn't real is a massive overstatement my friend. There are many things in our live's that we may be responsible for, but there are so much more things that we have had no part in. For example we did not create the earth that we live in, we did not create the big bang, we did not create the families that we are so lucky or unlucky to be born into, we are not responsible for all of the miraculous systems of life that seem to somehow work just perfectly throughout the world, we did not create water, plants for food, or the animals that we harvest for their meat. Man may have created some things that are considered good but they are mainly technology and other things that really aren't necessary to life. These same things that we have created have caused some of the biggest problems in the world such as global warming, infestation of invasive species, overpopulation, deforestation, extinction of species, and plenty of other ignorant moves on our part. So much of the so-called wonders that man has created are slowly and surely tearing this world apart. If we don't realize what we are doing sometime in the near future we will soon have no plants for food, will have killed virtually every other species in the world, with no plants we will lack the necessary medicine to heal the cancers and diseases in our lives that are generally self induced. We certainly don't have everything now from our own efforts. God has given us all the things that are necessary for us to survive in our lives, such as life itself. Man has simply given themselves conveniences to make life easier even though they may not be good inventions, some even ripping holes in the ozone layers and destroying our ecosystem. Some of us humans are so ignorant of the damage they are doing, and sin is something that shouldn't be ignored as well because sin does not make us good people. Some sin may be a bit too much but the basic ideas of it are good to make us each a good person. So yes I do think that we have a lot to thank God for whether you choose to except it or not, I used to feel the same way you did and then I started accepting a divine source into my life and my life is so much better, beautifuler, and I am no more pessimistic about things in life that I now see are all well in their own right. I hope you think of your religious views in the opinion and find something to believe in because our beliefs are what keep us fueled throughout life. Good day friend.
