Can you live without Carbonated drinks? Powdered juices?

Hello, guys! There's this school event that I've been organizing and was thinking of a good theme for food. Our current and suggested theme is "Back to Childhood Days". I thought that maybe "Fruit, Veggies and a little Meat" would be a good theme for it. I know a vast majority wants meat as their main dish but I'm thinking that a healthy set of meals wouldn't hurt once a year. So, do you think it'll be Ok if we banned Carbonated drinks, powdered juices, etc. and only allowed Water, Fruit & Vegetable shakes, and other healthy opinions as beverages within the school campus just for the event? If you were the students, would you complain? Is it too much to ask to limit yourself as long as you're in campus? I am the leader of the committee organizing the event, btw.

I think it's a good idea and it's not that much to complain about as long as you give some kind of a "notice" before the event. I believe you will be a good society leader someday people who are not afraid to do things beyond the norm is one trait of a real leader so go for it!

I made the decision to try and lose some weight this time last year. Since then, I can probably count on the fingers of my hand the number of times that I have drunk anything other than water. There's just no need to drink unhealthy things really, as they're just calories that you don't even feel the benefit of once you've drunk them because most people don't class them as food at all. Since I started drinking more water, I can really tell the difference in myself as it makes me more wide awake in the mornings and also means that I don't struggle to go to sleep at night anymore, which is always a good thing.

I am not that drinking carbonated drinks and powdered drinks but I do drink occasionally. I know the consequences when I drink too much of it like diabetes etc. Now, if you were asking if you banned drinking it or selling it to the market, then its good for us. But it if you do ban drinking it and banning it to the market, then there will be a lot of issues regarding the companies making those kind of stuffs. Its there business. I think, if you are concern to our health, then it is much better if you just make some campaigns to moderate those kinds of drinks instead of banning it. If you happen to do that, then there will be no issues regarding the company making those drinks. I think self discipline is much better.

if i were the student then i would not mind if you ban carbonated drinks for the said event. i would understand since carbonated drinks in the diet would not qualify for a healthy diet. i think fruit juices would make me more happy so you must have them in your list since children have this sweet tooth they prefer something fruity than veggie or else you put something sweet to veggie shakes to make it more appetizing.

Yes I can definitely survive without carbonated drinks. Believe me my friend I have already stopped drinking carbonated drinks for almost 3 years now. Sure the fresh juices from fruits, veggie and the good old plain water is a good complimenting beverage for your theme and idea, since your promoting healthy eating. And be sure to use fresh fruits and vegetables to get the best from them and try to make them more appetizing. And please don't serve plain green vegetable juice...... Oh no desserts =)? maybe a lil fruit dessert wont hurt X3!

I don't think that's too much to ask. It sounds like you have thought about a lot of other options so it is not as if you are telling your students they have no choice about what they drink. There are plenty of perfectly healthy and tasty drinks. We don't all need fizzy drinks all the time. Even some of the most stubborn people will try something different if the stuff they usually have isn't there and they might even like it. I think your idea sounds like a really good one.

I can ohnsetly say this about a year ago I had to have a test run and they found out I had a seroious stomach infection the only thing I could drink was water the reason I am saying this is I had to do it for two weeks until it was all gone if you had to do it for youre health you can do anything but otherwise it can be tough.

I am a huge drinker of pop and powdered juices. So from my point of view I do not think that it would be a bad thing. I think that natural juices etc can be just as good. I for one really like lemonade made from scratch. I would not think that many if any people would complain. I mean it is not like they can never have that stuff again. It is just for an event then yes go ahead and do it. It may surprise people that do drink alot of pop or powdered drinks how good the real stuff is. Good luck and much success on your event.

I don't think it is too much to ask at all but I haven't drank pop or any powdered juices in a couple years. That stuff is obviously bad for you and overall we need to reform our diet so that we can be healthier. It would be very easy to do especially with the simple elimination of gross things such as soda, juice that is basically all sugar, coloring and artificial flavorings, and the standard diet that we have seem to bolster for years now of just meat, cheese, and grains. The fact of the matter is that we need to train ourselves to eat what is right for us and the truth is that a great majority of people in the United States don't get anywhere near the amount of vegetables or fruits that they need in their diet. I think it would be great if schools could start making freshly made juice with a juicer or shakes for their students. With making your own juice or shakes the great thing is that you can throw vegetables in there without students knowing. It's a great way to help kids get their vegetables and overall helping students while they are young to make the right diet choices is going to be the best way to help people to continue to make the right choices of food continuing on in life.

A lot of people are drinking those stuffs. It can really refreshes us instantly. Unlike fresh fruit juices which are hard to prepare and more expensive. But I think they are not really that healthy. In moderation, I think that they are not that bad. I think that is a good idea to ban carbonated drinks and powdered juices in school. However, I think when you sell both artificial and natural drinks, people will still prefer those commercialized drinks.

To be honest I don't understand why you have those kind of drinks at school at all. It's forbidden over here. Kids have to drink something healthy which is water, juice or milk. Milk is harder since there is no fridge so most don't. Fruit and vegetable shakes are a great extra same with fruit salads. Also I think there is nothing wrong with tea (there are all kinds of) being able to drink something warm/hot at time there is nothing wrong with either and it has less calories as a fruit or vegetable cocktail. BTW we give tea (with milk) already to babies. I would not complain I would be happy
