I'm trying to solve this math problem but i can't... I know the answer but I don't know how to get there. Everytime I do it I come with the same result. Here it is: - Antony earns 6.60 euros per hour of work till 30 hours a week. Each hour he works over 30 hours per week he earns more 1/3 per hour besides of the usual. In a week, Antony earned 220 euros. Calculate how many hours and minutes Antony worked that week. Please help me. and please show me all the steps you did!

You should really do your own homework, you know. Let x be the number of hours worked at the base rate. Let y be the number of hours worked at the overtime rate. 220 = 6.6x + 8.8y Do your normal quadratics from there.

Or alternatively (though probably not what a maths teacher wants): Basic weekly wage = 30 x 6.6 = 193 Euros. Therefore he earned 27 Euros more in the week. Overtime wage = 8.8 Euros/hr Number of hours earned = 27 / 8.8 (hourly wage in overtime) = 3 hours, 4 minutes, 5.45 seconds (like any job's actually going to pay you for 5.45 seconds' work...! )

Oops, mistyped - 198 Euros. Therefore 22 Euros more. Therefore 2 hours 30 minutes (that makes more sense).

But my question is, the result is 2.5. How do you know that that is 2h30m? I'm just dumb!!! It's late night here. My brain is not working correctly! haha

1) 220 (total income) / 6.60 (income an hour) = .... (the hours before dot after dot are the minutes the minutes. 2) 1 hour has 60 minutes 3) Extra hours payed = 1/3 of 6.60 euro = 2.20 euro since 6.60 euro / 3 = 2.20 euro 4) He worked about 60 min. extra (60606060 to be exactly we make 61 minutes overwork out of that) 4) 1 extra working hour or 60 minutes = 2.20 euro + 1 minute extra working = (2.20 / 60 = ... euro.)
